Job summary

Dover Court International School (DCIS) in Singapore seeks an experienced Science Tutor to provide 1-to-1 tuition for Year 8 and Year 9 students. The role covers Biology, Chemistry and Physics under the British Curriculum, with a view toward IGCSE Science.

The ideal candidate holds a degree in a science subject, has secondary science teaching or tutoring experience, and can teach confidently in English. IGCSE experience is strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Degree or strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science, Engineering or related field.
• Experience teaching/tutoring secondary school Science.
• Familiarity with British Curriculum / KS3 / IGCSE.
• IGCSE Science teaching experience strongly preferred.
• Excellent English communication and ability to explain concepts clearly.

• Provide 1-to-1 Science tuition for Year 8 and Year 9 students
• Follow and complement the DCIS Science curriculum
• Teach and reinforce concepts across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Review schoolwork, assignments and assessment results
• Identify and address gaps in scientific understanding
• Develop scientific reasoning, data interpretation and problem-solving skills
• Improve scientific vocabulary and written explanations
• Prepare students for assessments and future IGCSE Science
• Provide regular feedback on student progress

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Science Tutor to provide 1-to-1 tuition for students in Year 8 and Year 9 at Dover Court International School (DCIS), Singapore.

The tutor should have experience with the British Curriculum and be confident teaching Science across Biology, Chemistry and Physics, including supporting the transition towards IGCSE Science.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide 1-to-1 Science tuition for Year 8 and Year 9 students
• Follow and complement the DCIS Science curriculum
• Teach and reinforce concepts across Biology, Chemistry and Physics
• Review schoolwork, assignments and assessment results
• Identify and address gaps in scientific understanding
• Develop scientific reasoning, data interpretation and problem-solving skills
• Improve scientific vocabulary and written explanations
• Prepare students for assessments and future IGCSE Science
• Provide regular feedback on student progress

Requirements

• Degree or strong academic background in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Science, Engineering or related field
• Experience teaching/tutoring secondary school Science
• Familiarity with British Curriculum / KS3 / IGCSE
• IGCSE Science teaching experience strongly preferred
• Comfortable teaching Biology, Chemistry and Physics at Year 8-9 level
• International school teaching/tutoring experience is an advantage
• Able to teach confidently in English
• Patient and able to explain complex concepts clearly

Preferred

Current/former international school Science teachers, PGCE/QTS-qualified teachers, or experienced tutors with IGCSE Biology/Chemistry/Physics teaching experience.
