Job summary

Ley Choon Constructions and Engineering Pte Ltd in Singapore is seeking a Workshop Technician to maintain, service, and repair construction machinery and tools used on underground utilities and road works. You will ensure equipment readiness and safety, and support project timelines.

The role requires NITEC or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, hands-on experience in heavy equipment workshops, knowledge of hydraulic, electrical and mechanical systems, and ability to read schematics.

Qualifications

• NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• Proven experience as a technician in a construction or heavy equipment workshop environment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Physically fit for hands-on workshop work.
• Basic computer literacy for maintenance logging and communication.
• Team player with good time-management skills.
• Preferably possess a valid Class 3 license.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on construction machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g. excavators, breakers, pipe-laying equipment, generators).
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues and perform corrective actions.
• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance for reliability and safety compliance.
• Maintain service records and equipment logs per company policy.
• Collaborate with site and operations teams to prioritize equipment readiness.
• Support assembly, testing, and calibration of new or modified equipment.
• Ensure tools, spare parts, and consumables are stocked and managed.
• Adhere to safety procedures and keep a clean workshop environment.
• Assist in developing and improving workshop procedures and maintenance schedules.
• Provide emergency repair support for on-site breakdowns.

We provide Underground Utilities Infrastructure construction and maintenance, sewer pipeline rehabilitation, road and airfield construction and maintenance as well as asphalt pre-mix production and construction waste recycling.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Workshop Technician plays a vital role in maintaining, servicing, and repairing construction machinery, equipment, and tools used in our underground utilities and road works projects. The role ensures all workshop operations support site demands efficiently and safely, minimizing downtime and supporting project timelines.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on construction machinery and mechanical equipment (e.g. excavators, breakers, pipe-laying equipment, generators).
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic system issues and perform necessary corrective actions.
• Conduct inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment reliability and compliance with safety standards.
• Maintain accurate service records, equipment logs, and documentation in accordance with company policies.
• Collaborate with the site and operations teams to prioritize equipment readiness based on project needs.
• Support the assembly, testing, and calibration of new or modified equipment before deployment.
• Ensure proper tools, spare parts, and consumables are available and well-managed in the workshop.
• Adhere strictly to safety procedures, including proper use of PPE and maintenance of a clean working environment.
• Assist in the development and improvement of workshop procedures and maintenance schedules.
• Provide emergency repair support for on-site breakdowns when required.
• Perform other duties or tasks as assigned by the immediate superior or Head of Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

• NITEC / Higher NITEC / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field.
• Proven experience as a technician in a construction or heavy equipment workshop environment.
• Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and engineering drawings.

• Physically fit and able to work in a hands-on workshop environment.
• Basic computer literacy (for maintenance logging and communication).
• Team player with strong communication and time-management skills.
• Preferably possess a valid Class 3 license.

OTHER INFORMATION

Work Schedule: 6-day work week.

Shift rotation is required based on operational needs.

Location: Office at No. 3 Sungei Kadut Drive, Singapore 729556 (North Singapore).
