Job summary

Beng Hock Mechanical Engineering Pte. Ltd in Singapore seeks a qualified Workshop Operations Manager to lead day-to-day workshop activities, ensure safety, and maintain throughput for heavy vehicle components and related equipment.

The ideal candidate holds a Mechanical Engineering degree with 5+ years in a fast-paced workshop, demonstrates strong leadership, and can manage a team, KPI targets, and customer liaison on-site. Six days per week, on-site role.

Qualifications

• Minimum Degree in Mechanical Engineering and proficiency in MS Office and Acrobat software.
• Minimum of 5 years' experience in workshop operations management in a fast-moving environment.
• Able to work independently in a stressful environment and meet deadlines.
• Possess positive mindset and motivation to work with people from diverse backgrounds.
• Must be able to serve Mandarin/Hokkien-speaking clients; English and Mandarin/Hokkien skills preferred.
• Excellent leadership, people management skills and team spirit.
• Hardworking with urgency and accountability; proactive and self-driven.
• Experience managing workshop operations for heavy vehicle chassis and related equipment is a plus.
• Six days work week.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations and safety of the workshop.
• Control the inflow/outflow of vehicles and equipment sent for repairs/service/maintenance.
• Serve as primary contact for customers and deploy technicians onsite as needed.
• Manage the in-house technical team.
• Ensure KPI targets for repair/service/maintenance are met (downtime, quality, etc.).
• Provide guidance to operations to maintain quality and safe work procedures per health and safety guidelines.
• Communicate effectively with employees, customers and regulatory authorities.
• Oversee CapEx and OpEx by reviewing plans, schedules and workflows.
• Implement and enforce policies and procedures.
• Arrange training for new staff according to scope and standard.

• Relevant experience in managing workshop operations in heavy vehicle's euro 4 to 6 chassis and superstructure such as REL, hook-lift, crane, mobile compactor, stationary compactor, OTC, low deck, self-loader will be an advantage.
• 6 Days work week.

Tasks & responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations and safety of workshop.
• Manage and control the in and out flow of vehicles and equipment that are send into our workshop for repairs/service and maintenance.
• Service as point of contact for customers and deploy Technicians onsite to assist customer's vehicle and/or equipment breakdown request.
• Manage the team of in-house Technicians.
• Ensure that KPI of repair/service and maintenance are achieved in term of repair downtime, quality of work etc.
• Overseeing and provide guidance to operations team in maintaining quality of work and ensure that safe work procedure adherence to workplace health and safety guidelines.
• Possess strong communications and interpersonal skills to interact with the employees, customers and regulatory authorities.
• Control workshop CapEx and OpEx by reviewing plan, operations, schedule and workflow process.
• Implement and execute policies and procedures.
• Assigning training to new staff in relation to their job scope, responsibilities and standards.
