Job summary

Thong Huat Brothers (Pte) Limited is seeking an experienced Safety Officer to lead WSH initiatives across construction projects in Singapore. You will collaborate with the Project Manager to develop strategies, supervise safety programs, and ensure compliance with legal safety and health requirements on site.

The role demands at least 5 years in building or civil construction, MOM and NEA registrations, and proficiency with ISO 14001/45001.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Engineering with EHS focus is required.
• MOM-registered WSHO and NEA authority are required or highly preferred.
• Familiarity with ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards is expected.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Project Manager to develop accident prevention strategies and ensure compliance with safety laws.
• Implement and oversee Workplace Safety and Health initiatives and programs.
• Monitor adherence to safety procedures by all onsite workers.
• Lead WSH communications across all levels of the organization.
• Identify hazards, plan preventive and corrective actions with stakeholders.
• Organize safety committee meetings and conduct safety audits for reports.
• Conduct safety training, drills, and emergency preparedness activities.
• Lead incident investigations to identify root causes and preventive measures.
• Manage a team of safety personnel and drive safety culture improvements.
• Maintain thorough safety documentation for compliance and management use.
• Perform ad hoc duties as assigned by reporting officer.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Project Manager to develop strategies and provide guidance on accident prevention, safe work practices, and compliance with legal safety and health requirements.

• Implement and oversee Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) initiatives and programs.

• Monitor and ensure strict adherence to safety procedures and regulations by all onsite workers.

• Led workplace WSH communications and effectively communicate with all organizational levels.

• Proactively identify potential gaps/hazards and anticipate workplace safety and health issues. Collaborate with relevant stakeholders to discuss and implement preventive and corrective actions.

• Organize and perform the duty of the secretary of safety committee meetings; conduct safety audits for management reports.

• Conduct safety training and drills to maintain high safety awareness and emergency preparedness.

• Conduct thorough incident investigations to identify root causes and implement effective measures to prevent future occurrences.

• Lead and manage a team of safety personnel, fostering a culture of safety excellence and continuous improvement across all operations.

• Maintain and uphold meticulous safety documentation to ensure compliance and facilitate effective safety management practices.

• Ad hoc duties as assigned by reporting officer.

Requirements

• At least 5 Year(s) of working experience in building or civil construction industry, preferably with experience in HDB projects.

• Diploma or Degree in Engineering (Environmental, Health, Safety) or equivalent.

• At least 5 years as a MOM Registered Workplace Safety and Health Officer.

• At least 5 years as a NEA Registered Environmental Control Officer.

• Have completed Design for Safety Appreciation Course conducted by training providers accredited by MOM is an advantage.

• Proficient understanding of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 standards.

• Qualified candidates should be energetic, self-driven, and possessing a results-driven attitude.

• Possess strong technical skills, and outstanding interpersonal abilities to enhance team collaboration.
