Workcell Section Manager
JOB SUMMARY

The Workcell Section Manager is responsible for leading and managing one or more manufacturing workcells to achieve operational excellence in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Inventory, People, and Customer Satisfaction. The role provides strategic direction, operational leadership, and talent development while ensuring alignment with business objectives, customer requirements, and corporate standards. The Workcell Section Manager drives continuous improvement, operational performance, and cross-functional collaboration to support sustainable growth and profitability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational Leadership
  • Lead and manage workcell operations to achieve established goals for Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Inventory.
  • Develop and execute operational strategies that support customer requirements and business objectives.
  • Ensure capacity, resource planning, and production schedules are optimized to meet customer demand.
  • Drive execution of manufacturing plans while maintaining flexibility to support changing business requirements.
  • Monitor and review operational performance through key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement corrective actions as required.
Quality and Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable quality standards, customer requirements, regulatory requirements, and company procedures.
  • Drive a culture of quality ownership and accountability across all levels of the organization.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action initiatives to address operational and customer issues.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO, regulatory, environmental, EHS, and customer-specific requirements.
  • Support customer audits, regulatory inspections, and internal assessments.
Financial Management
  • Develop and manage operating budgets for assigned workcells or production areas.
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives, productivity improvements, automation projects, and waste elimination programs.
  • Monitor financial performance including labor efficiency, manufacturing cost, inventory, scrap, and operational spending.
  • Ensure effective utilization of people, equipment, and resources to maximize profitability.
People Leadership and Talent Development
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and development to Assistant Workcell Managers, Supervisors, and support teams.
  • Build high-performing teams through succession planning, capability development, and performance management processes.
  • Foster an inclusive and engaging work environment that promotes accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Lead workforce planning activities including recruitment, retention, and organizational development.
Customer and Stakeholder Management
  • Serve as the primary operational interface for assigned customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead customer business reviews, operational reviews, and escalation management activities.
  • Build strong partnerships with Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, HR, and other support functions.
  • Drive customer satisfaction through achievement of service, quality, and delivery commitments.
Continuous Improvement
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Automation, Industry 4.0, and Digital Factory initiatives.
  • Identify and implement process improvements that drive operational excellence and competitive advantage.
  • Lead site-level improvement projects focused on productivity, quality, cycle time reduction, inventory management, and cost savings.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement and operational discipline.
Safety and Environmental Leadership
  • Ensure compliance with all EHS policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement and risk management activities.
  • Lead corrective actions arising from safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Participate in strategic planning, business growth initiatives, and operational transformation programs.
  • Support new product introduction (NPI), business transitions, and site expansion activities.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong knowledge of electronic manufacturing operations, supply chain, quality systems, and production management.
  • Strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Continuous Improvement, and Operational Excellence methodologies.
  • Proven ability to manage P&L drivers, operating budgets, and cost reduction programs.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
  • Strong customer relationship and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Experience managing complex operational challenges in a high-volume manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MES systems, business intelligence tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and influence skills.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, Business, or related field.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of manufacturing experience in a high-volume electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of leadership experience managing multiple production lines, departments, or workcells.
  • Demonstrated success in operational leadership, customer management, and business performance improvement.
  • Experience in medical device, healthcare, industrial, telecommunications, or electronics manufacturing preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification is an advantage.
  • Equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered.
KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS (KPIs)

The Workcell Section Manager is accountable for achieving performance targets in:
