Job summary

Huawei seeks a Wearable Technology Planning Engineer to scout emerging wearables, health monitoring, and sports tech trends across the APAC region. You will manage the APAC information resources platform and serve as a key liaison for APAC and HQ colleagues.

The role requires a degree in Biomedical Eng, E&E, Materials, or CS, 1+ years in wearable/digital health planning, and bilingual English/Chinese communication. Some regional travel is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master degree in Biomedical Engineering, E&E, Materials, CS or related field.
• At least 1 year of wearable hardware, digital health, or sports tech planning experience.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to articulate wearable tech trends and proactive health insights.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; fluent in English and Chinese.
• Willingness to travel regionally (1–2 times per year).

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

• Conduct technology scouting and landscaping in the APAC region; output insight reports on national strategies, university breakthrough technologies, key conferences, and emerging startups, focusing on next-generation smart wearables, comprehensive health monitoring, and sports science.
• Take responsibility for managing and upkeeping the APAC information and technology resources platform, serving as the strategic point of contact for APAC and HQ colleagues. The major tasks include but are not limited to: collection and review of industry dynamics, timely online publication of wearable technology and health domain intelligence, enquiries follow-up, and monthly status reviews.
• Work closely with the APAC team on various kinds of projects, initiatives, academic events, and other activities driving innovation in sports and health hardware ecosystems.
• Assist in other ad-hoc tasks, as required.

Requirements

• Bachelor/Master degree holder in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Material Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields. Privilege will be given to candidates with at least 1 year of working experience in wearable hardware development, digital health, or sports technology planning roles.
• With good analytical skills and be able to articulate wearable tech trends and proactive health insights clearly.
• Passionate about new technologies, especially miniaturized sensors, biosensing, and athletic performance tracking solutions.
• With good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in speaking/writing in both English and Chinese.
• Professional, responsible, and a strong team player.
• Regional travel might be required, 1-2 times per year.
