United Overseas Bank Ltd is seeking an experienced Lead Automation Engineer to lead a team within Platform Automation Services. The role blends software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, and SRE leadership to automate and streamline internal operations.

You will mentor Site Reliability Engineers and engineers, design scalable internal platforms, drive observability and reliability, and partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into platform capabilities.

Formación

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, IT or related field.
• Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams or major technical initiatives.
• Strong full-stack development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Angular and Django.
• Experience developing APIs, microservices, and enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD processes, and software delivery practices.
• Experience with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Kubernetes, and private cloud environments.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, and reliability engineering.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Lead Automation Engineer to lead a team within Platform Automation Services.

The team is responsible for building and evolving internal platforms that automate and streamline operational processes, improve service reliability, and deliver self-service capabilities for internal users. This role combines software engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, and SRE leadership.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor a team of Site Reliability Engineers and software engineers.
• Design, develop, and maintain internal platforms that automate operational processes and workflows.
• Build scalable, secure, and maintainable full-stack applications and platform services.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into platform capabilities.
• Drive adoption of SRE, DevOps, and engineering best practices.
• Lead incident management, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement activities.
• Support OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) and private cloud environments.
• Drive observability, monitoring, performance, and reliability initiatives.

Platform & Product Ownership

• Own the end-to-end lifecycle of internal platform products from concept to operations.
• Define and drive platform roadmaps and adoption strategies.
• Measure success through platform adoption, reliability, and operational efficiency metrics.

Automation at Scale

• Design automation solutions that eliminate manual operational tasks and reduce toil.
• Build reusable frameworks and services that enable self-service capabilities.
• Implement automated recovery, deployment, and operational workflows.

Architecture & Solution Design

• Lead architecture and technical design discussions for platform services.
• Design scalable, resilient, secure, and maintainable solutions.
• Define integration patterns, API standards, and engineering best practices.

Engineering Excellence

• Champion code quality, testing, security, documentation, and maintainability.
• Lead code reviews and establish engineering standards.
• Mentor engineers and foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of software engineering experience.
• Proven experience leading engineering teams or major technical initiatives.
• Strong full-stack development experience.
• Hands-on experience with Angular and Django.
• Experience developing APIs, microservices, and enterprise applications.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD processes, and software delivery practices.
• Experience with OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Kubernetes, and private cloud environments.
• Experience with monitoring, logging, observability, and reliability engineering.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience building platforms, products, or services from scratch.
• Strong understanding of enterprise IT infrastructure and operations.
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Ansible.
• Experience with observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, Dynatrace, or Datadog.
• Experience in large enterprise environments supporting multiple stakeholder groups.
