The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in Singapore is seeking a veterinary nurse to join our community animal clinic. The role focuses on providing high standards of veterinary medicine and care for shelter, rescued, and low-income community animals.

You will administer treatments, assist in consultations and surgeries, maintain records, and support outreach. The successful candidate will have a diploma and 1–3 years of clinical veterinary experience, plus strong English

  • 1–3 years clinical experience in a veterinary clinic, hospital, or shelter setting.
  • Hands-on experience in general animal care, wound management, and post-operative care.
  • Excellent English communication in writing and speech.
  • Meticulous and detail-oriented with accurate documentation and record-keeping.

Responsibilities

  • Provide daily nursing care, treatments and monitoring for shelter and clinic patients.
  • Assist in consultations, surgeries, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures with high care standards.
  • Ensure proper administration of medications, nutrition, and enrichment for recovery and welfare.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, progress notes and follow-up documentation.
  • Support shelter population management through observation, reporting and coordination with vets.
  • Supervise and guide students and volunteers, contributing to training and a positive team culture.
  • Uphold clinic SOPs and help refine protocols for efficiency and welfare.
  • Participate in outreach and education activities when required.
  • Maintain diagnostic equipment and sterilisation of instruments and cleanliness of the clinic.
  • Provide guidance to patients’ caregivers where needed.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as assigned.
  • Provide support for SPCA-led events and initiatives as required.

Job description

The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) is looking for a veterinary nurse to join our community animal clinic. The SPCA’s clinic is unique, as it is a not-for-profit clinic serving needy animals in Singapore. These include street dogs and cats, abused and rescued animals, shelter animals and, eventually, pets from low income households.

As part of the clinic team, you will be responsible for the provision of the highest standards of veterinary medicine and care.

The Veterinary Nurseis responsible for administering veterinary care and medicine at the SPCA’sCommunity Animal Clinic.

  • Provide daily nursing care, treatments, and monitoring to shelter andclinic patients, ensuring high welfare standards
  • Assist in consultations, surgeries, diagnostics, treatments andprocedures, maintaining high standards of care, hygiene and safety.
  • Ensure proper administration of medications, nutrition, and enrichmentto support recovery and well-being.
  • Maintain accurate patient records, progress notes, and documentation offollow-up care.
  • Support shelter population management through observation, reporting,and coordination with vets.
  • Supervise and guide students and volunteers, contributing to trainingand a positive team culture.

Requirements:
  • MinimumDiploma in any discipline, or equivalent relevant working experience in animal care or veterinary support
  • 1-3 years ofclinical experience in aveterinary clinic, hospital, or shelter setting
  • Hands-onexperience in general animal care and husbandry, including wound management andbandaging, and post-operative care.
  • Competence inbasic medical procedures, such as administering injections, setting up IVlines, and monitoring vital signs.
  • Familiaritywith veterinary medical equipment, as well as surgical assistance and aseptictechniques.
  • Excellentcommunication skills and fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Meticulous anddetail-oriented, and accurate indocumentation and record-keeping
  • Team playerwith strong interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for animal welfare
  • Able to work weekends, 5 days work week
