Job summary

Temasek Polytechnic (TP) seeks a Veterinarian to lead TPACW as the veterinary manager, ensuring AVS regulatory compliance while coordinating student training and clinical services. The role combines teaching, supervision and practical clinical duties in a dynamic polytechnic setting.

The successful candidate will conduct lectures for PET and CET courses, develop teaching materials, and mentor students toward professional readiness, with a focus on small animals and research interests.

Qualifications

• Qualified in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery or equivalent.
• Current AVS veterinary license with at least 3 years of experience in veterinary clinics.
• Able to work evenings for CET night classes.
• Familiar with Day One Competences for Veterinary Nurses.
• Passion for developing talents and sharing knowledge with youths and adult learners.
• Team player able to work collaboratively and independently to meet deadlines.
• Knowledge/experience in small animals; interest in veterinary research (nutrition, feed studies), aquatic or avian medicine advantageous.

Clinical duties

• Assume the role of the veterinary manager on the veterinary centre license to ensure compliance of Temasek Polytechnic’s Animal Clinic and Wellness (TPACW) with Animal & Veterinary Service (AVS) regulations.
• Plan and coordinate student clinical training at TPACW and external clinical attachments in consultation with course team.
• Work collaboratively with TPACW vendor for the delivery of clinical services and student training.
• Provide clinical services up to twice a week as a vet at TPACW.

Academic duties

• Supervise student in-clinic training and assessment at TPACW.
• Conduct lectures, tutorials and practical lessons for Pre-Employment Training (PET) and Continuing Education and Training (CET) courses.
• Work with the Veterinary Technology (VET) course team in curriculum development, lesson design and develop teaching and assessment materials.
• Provide pastoral care and mentor students in character development and career readiness.

[What we are looking for]

• Relevant qualification in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery or equivalent

• Possess a current AVS veterinary license with a minimum of 3 years of relevant working experience in veterinary clinics.

• Able to work in the evenings for CET night classes.

• Familiar with ‘Day One Competences’ for Veterinary Nurses.
• Have a passion for developing talents, and genuine interest to share knowledge and interact with youths and adult learners.
• Team player who is resourceful and able to work both collaboratively and independently to meet deadlines.

• Knowledge and experience in small animals required. Additional interest and experience in veterinary research (eg. animal nutrition, animal or pet feed studies), aquatic or avian medicine would be advantageous.
