Job summary

TONGLI SHIPPING PTE. LTD. in Singapore seeks professionals with a strong maritime background to join our operations team. You will coordinate ship operations to optimize voyage performance and profitability across various voyages.

Work closely with ship masters, brokers, port agents and multiple internal departments to ensure voyages run smoothly and in line with charter terms. A Maritime Studies qualification and 2+ years in dry bulk shipping or trading are preferred.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Maritime Studies or related field.
• 2+ years of relevant experience in shipping or trading.
• Experience in coordinating voyage operations and financial aspects.

Responsibilities

• Handle ship operations to ensure optimal voyage performance and profitability.
• Coordinate with ship master, broker, bunker trader and port agent for daily operations.
• Coordinate with accounts for monitoring receivables and balance settlements, and B/L collection.
• Coordinate with legal on dispute voyages.
• Coordinate with technical for stowage planning and bunkering coordination.
• Assist chartering/commercial teams with vessel nominations or fixtures.
• Prepare laytime calculations and negotiate laytime, issue freight and hire invoices, settle final voyage accounts.
• Prepare voyage statements with analysis after each voyage.
• Update voyage information in the central system during handovers and voyages.
• Perform other duties as required.

Job responsibilities

• Handling of all ship operations related matters to ensure optimal voyage performance and maximizing profitability for the respective voyages
• Coordinate with various parties like ship master, ship broker, bunker trader, port agent son day-to-day operations to ensure all voyages run smoothly in compliance with charter parties
• Coordinate with account and commercial departments for monitoring account receivable and settlement of balance outstanding, payment related matter and B/L collection
• Coordinate with legal department on dispute voyages
• Coordinate with technical department for stowage planning, bunkering coordination and other technical related issues
• Assist chartering or commercial department to gather related information on vessel nomination or fixtures
• Prepare laytime calculation, negotiation of laytime including issuance of freight invoice, hire invoice and settlement of final voyage account for both ship owner and voyage charterer
• Prepare voyage statement with proper analysis after completion of each voyage
• Update voyage information into central system during voyage handover and throughout the voyage
• Any other duties as required from time to time

Job requirements

• Minimum Diploma or Degree in Maritime Studies or a related field
• 2 years or more of relevant working experience, preferably in dry bulk shipping or a trading house.
• Experience in operating TCT and Long Period TC for both Capesize, Panamax, Supramax and Handymax ship sizes
• Good time management and communication
• Able to work in team working environments
• Good numerical skills with keen eye for details
• Knowledge of financial or accounting is advantageous
