Job summary

National GRIP in Singapore is seeking a Venture Architect with expertise in materials, semiconductors, and the physical sciences to help technical founders transform promising research into commercially viable ventures.

You will mentor teams, validate markets, develop business models, and guide routes to market while building networks with industry and investors.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or PhD in materials science, engineering, physics, chemistry or related field.
• At least 10 years of experience in science-/engineering-based tech businesses.
• Experience in leadership, venture building, commercialization, or startup environments.

National GRIP is Singapore’s national deep-tech venture creation initiative. We are seeking a Venture Architect with expertise in materials, semiconductors, and the physical sciences to help technical founders move from promising research to commercially viable companies.

You will work directly with selected teams, bringing the industry perspective, commercial discipline, and entrepreneurial judgment needed to identify strong applications, validate markets, and build credible ventures.

• Mentor technical teams from early concept through venture formation
• Identify and validate high-potential applications, customers, and markets
• Guide business model development, go-to-market planning, and commercialization strategy
• Advise on industry value chains, partnerships, manufacturing, and routes to market
• Help founders communicate complex technologies to customers, partners, and investors
• Support fundraising strategy, strategic hiring, and commercial growth

You may be a great fit if you:

• Hold a Master’s degree or PhD in materials science, engineering, physics, chemistry, or a related field
• Bring at least 10 years of experience in a science- or engineering-based technology business
• Have worked in company leadership, venture capital, commercialization, or startup building
• Possess deep expertise in materials, semiconductors, or adjacent physical-science industries
• Understand the journey from research or intellectual property to a commercially viable venture
• Can communicate technical and commercial trade-offs clearly and work effectively with founders, researchers, and industry partners
• Have founder or first-hand startup experience
• Have taken a physical-science innovation from lab to market
• Bring relevant industry, corporate, investor, or commercialization networks
• Have supported university spinouts, research-led ventures, or national innovation programmes

Play a meaningful role in Singapore’s deep-tech innovation pipeline, work with emerging technologies, and help shape ventures at the stage when experienced guidance can have the greatest impact.
