Job summary

Pepperl+Fuchs is seeking a Senior Value Engineer to drive development, improvement, and maintenance of Industrial Communication products. You will ensure production-readiness, cost-optimization and lifecycle support through cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities include designing electrical circuits, updating BOMs, and addressing issues during production with focus on explosion protection and functional safety. NPI transfers and continuous product improvement are also part of the role.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in product development or new product manufacturing.
  • Experience with mechatronic, electronic, mechanical or automotive products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead production-oriented product development and maintenance from target specs to series release.
  • Design and analyse electrical circuits and update Bills of Materials (BOM).
  • Analyse and resolve production issues with explosion protection and functional safety considerations.
  • Conduct performance testing and prepare qualification reports across the product lifecycle.
  • Prepare ECNs/ETNs and R&D documentation for design changes and product improvements.
  • Coordinate R&D activities related to material shortages and customer variants.

Value (R&D) Engineer

As a Senior Value Engineer, you will drive the development, improvement and maintenance of Industrial Communication products, ensuring they are production-ready, cost-optimized, market-driven and compliant with relevant standards. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to solve technical challenges and support products throughout their lifecycle, from development through series production.

Role Responsibilities:
  • Lead independent, production-oriented and cost-optimized product development and maintenance in line with the Product Engineering Process (PEP), from target specifications through series release
  • Design and analyse electrical circuits and create or update Bills of Material (BOM) for Industrial Communication Value Engineering products, including isolated barriers and signal conditioners
  • Analyse and resolve product-related issues arising during production, with consideration for explosion protection and functional safety requirements
  • Conduct performance testing and product evaluations, including the preparation of functional and qualification reports throughout the product lifecycle
  • Prepare and release ECNs/ETNs and relevant R&D documentation for engineering and design changes, product improvements and issue containment
  • Coordinate R&D activities related to alternative components, material shortages, customer complaints and special customer variants, providing effective technical solutions
  • Collaborate closely with Industrial Engineering, Production and R&D teams to ensure timely feedback, effective problem-solving and continuous product improvement
  • Support the successful introduction and smooth transfer of new products (NPI) to manufacturing, while monitoring product design and quality performance
Role Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechatronics, Electronic Engineering or equivalent
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant professional experience in product development or new product manufacturing
  • Relevant experience in mechatronic, electronic, mechanical or automotive products
  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge of developing, improving, industrialising and introducing new and existing products
  • Knowledge of explosion protection and functional safety is highly advantageous
  • Solid understanding of analog and digital circuit design, with experience using electrical engineering laboratory equipment
  • Familiarity with drafting tools and business systems such as ERP and PLM
