Job summary

PES International is seeking a Utilities Engineer to support operation, maintenance and optimization of critical utility systems in the Life Sciences sector. The role focuses on boilers, chillers, WFI and clean steam, with emphasis on change control and coordination of new equipment projects.

The ideal candidate has 4–10 years of engineering experience, a relevant engineering degree, and a solid track record in GMP manufacturing settings.

Qualifications

  • 4–10 years of relevant engineering experience in pharma/ GMP environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with boilers, chillers, WFI and clean steam.

Responsibilities

  • Support operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of critical utility systems.
  • Lead and manage Change Control activities for utility equipment upgrades.
  • Coordinate engineering activities for new equipment, including commissioning and handover to operations.
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Review equipment performance and recommend improvements for reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure activities comply with GMP, EHS and site requirements.

We are currently looking for Utilities Engineer to join us on a permanent basis to help us deliver various projects in the Life Sciences Industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of critical utility systems, including:
  • Boilers
  • Clean Steam
  • Other GMP / critical utility systems
  • Lead and manage Change Control activities related to the installation, modification or upgrade of utility equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate engineering activities for new utility equipment, including implementation, commissioning and handover to operations.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and root cause investigation for equipment failures, recurring issues and utility system performance problems.
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams on utility equipment and system-related issues.
  • Review equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability, maintainability and operational efficiency.
  • Support engineering documentation, technical assessments, risk assessments and other project-related activities as required.
  • Ensure engineering activities are performed in accordance with applicable GMP, EHS and site requirements.
Requirements
  • 4–10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or GMP manufacturing industry.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with critical utility systems such as Chillers, Boilers, WFI and Clean Steam.
  • Good understanding of the operation and maintenance of utility equipment.
  • Experience managing or supporting Change Control for engineering projects and equipment modifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex equipment or operational issues.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality and project stakeholders.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
