Job summary

No deviation in Singapore seeks an experienced Utility Engineer to support critical utility systems in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, including chiller, boiler, WFI, and clean steam. You will lead Change Control, coordinate new equipment deployment, perform root-cause analysis, and provide engineering support across Operations, Maintenance, and Quality.

Qualifications

  • 4–10 years of relevant engineering experience.
  • Strong understanding of operation and maintenance of utility equipment.
  • Experience managing or supporting Change Control for engineering projects and equipment modifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to investigate complex equipment or operational issues.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering or Electrical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of critical utility systems, including Chillers, Boilers, WFI and Clean Steam.
  • Lead and manage Change Control activities related to installation, modification or upgrade of utility equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate engineering activities for new utility equipment, including implementation, commissioning and handover to operations.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and root cause investigation for equipment failures, recurring issues and utility system performance problems.
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams on utility equipment and system-related issues.
  • Review equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability, maintainability and operational efficiency.
  • Support engineering documentation, technical assessments, risk assessments and other project-related activities as required.
  • Ensure engineering activities are performed in accordance with applicable GMP, EHS and site requirements.

Position Overview

We are looking for an experienced Utility Engineer to support ongoing engineering and operational activities for critical utility systems within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting and continuous improvement of critical utility systems, including:
    • Chillers
    • Boilers
    • Water for Injection (WFI)
    • Clean Steam
    • Other GMP / critical utility systems
  • Lead and manage Change Control activities related to the installation, modification or upgrade of utility equipment and systems.
  • Coordinate engineering activities for new utility equipment, including implementation, commissioning and handover to operations.
  • Perform in-depth troubleshooting and root cause investigation for equipment failures, recurring issues and utility system performance problems.
  • Provide technical support to Operations and Maintenance teams on utility equipment and system-related issues.
  • Review equipment performance and recommend improvements to enhance system reliability, maintainability and operational efficiency.
  • Support engineering documentation, technical assessments, risk assessments and other project-related activities as required.
  • Ensure engineering activities are performed in accordance with applicable GMP, EHS and site requirements.
Required Qualifications
  • 4–10 years of relevant engineering experience, preferably within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or GMP manufacturing industry.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with critical utility systems such as Chillers, Boilers, WFI and Clean Steam.
  • Good understanding of the operation and maintenance of utility equipment.
  • Experience managing or supporting Change Control for engineering projects and equipment modifications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to investigate complex equipment or operational issues.
  • Able to work independently and coordinate effectively with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Quality and project stakeholders.
  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
