Responsibilities

• Support Underwriters in risk assessment, quotation preparation, submission review, and renewal evaluation.
• Conduct initial risk assessments and ensure completeness and quality of underwriting information.
• Coordinate pre-binding activities, including sanctions screening, accumulation checks, commercial log clearance, quotation slip preparation, system updates, and documentation management.
• Consolidate claims experience and risk information to support underwriting decisions.
• Maintain underwriting records, opportunity pipelines, and renewal listings to support business planning and execution.
• Support Facultative Reinsurance placement administration and related documentation where applicable.
• Coordinate policy issuance, endorsements, renewals, certificates, cover notes, and statutory correspondence.
• Monitor and manage outstanding actions, policy documentation, and servicing requests to meet turnaround time commitments.
• Maintain accurate underwriting systems, policy records, and document repositories.
• Coordinate with brokers, producers, sales channels, finance teams, and internal stakeholders on policy servicing matters.
• Support premium booking, premium reconciliation, statements of account, and related financial administration.
• Perform quality assurance reviews on underwriting and processing activities completed internally and through offshore support teams.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines, regulatory requirements, sanctions processes, and internal controls.
• Support audit reviews, documentation requirements, and remediation activities.
• Establish and maintain workflows, monitoring mechanisms, and service controls to enhance operational effectiveness and accountability.
• Build strong working relationships with sales, underwriters, service teams, and business partners.
• Provide timely responses and effective resolution of underwriting and policy servicing matters.
• Coordinate activities across onshore and offshore teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
• Support knowledge sharing, training, and capability development within the wider underwriting support function.
• Produce portfolio, management, and performance reports on a weekly, monthly, and ad hoc basis.
• Analyse premium trends, retention performance, workflow volumes, and operational metrics to identify improvement opportunities.
• Support projects, automation initiatives, system enhancements, UAT activities, and process optimisation efforts.

Description

The Underwriting Lead, MidCorp plays a critical role in enabling profitable and sustainable portfolio growth by leading underwriting operations, policy lifecycle management, and stakeholder coordination across the MidCorp business. The role is responsible for ensuring high-quality underwriting support, effective service delivery, strong governance and compliance standards, and seamless collaboration between underwriters, brokers, and operational teams. The incumbent also drives reporting, process optimisation, and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, customer experience, and portfolio performance.

Key Responsibilities

Underwriting Operations & Risk Assessment

• Support Underwriters in risk assessment, quotation preparation, submission review, and renewal evaluation.
