Allied World Assurance Company Ltd. is seeking an experienced Underwriter to manage a diverse Construction & Engineering portfolio in Asia.
You will assess risks, price accurately, and coordinate withclaims, marketing and servicing teams to meet profitability targets. The role requires 3–5 years in construction/insurance or risk engineering, an engineering degree, and strong relationship and communication skills.
Responsible for underwriting a diverse book of Construction & Engineering business in Asia by employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, GWP and expense goals. The role supports the team for growth of overall portfolio of business within the appropriate underwriting discipline/guidelines, marketing and servicing of existing and potential clients.
Perform general underwriting functions of Construction & Engineering business in accordance with underwriting guidelines, including submission reviews, pricing analysis, review policy forms and wordings, setting terms and conditions and liaising with other departments to establish full understanding of risk exposures.
Administrate policies, endorsements and risk bordereaux, assist with credit control, maintenance of underwriting files, portfolio monitoring & reporting and related tasks.
Maintain contact with intermediaries and customers including negotiations or pricing and coverage, while managing interactions in an efficient, courteous and timely manner.
Proactively identifying and pursuing upselling and cross-selling opportunities to maximize profitable revenue potential from new and renewal business and achieve agreed business targets.
Liaising with Claims Department on any specific claim activity and overall market claim concerns which could potentially affect profitability.
Proactively identify opportunities to improve business processes with a focus on efficiency and outcomes.

Minimum 3 to 5 years relevant experience in the construction industry, insurance industry (technical lines) or in risk engineering.
Engineering degree (civil or mechanical) with insurance qualifications (ACII or equivalent) would be an advantage.
Self-motivated and well organized; results driven and a good team player.
Possess strong relationship building, interpersonal and communication skills.
Attention to detail and capable of dealing with tight timelines and conflicting priorities.
Proficiency in MS Suite is essential.
