Job summary

MINDSG Ltd in Singapore seeks a dedicated Training Officer to support learners with intellectual disabilities. You will teach, train, supervise, and develop daily living and social skills to help residents function independently.

Responsibilities include designing ILPs, coordinating with Allied Health staff, supervising activities, and engaging with families. Strong communication, patience, and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum O levels and/or equivalent.
• NITEC Certificate in Community Care & Social Services (ITE) required.
• Certifications in Special Needs Education or related diplomas preferred.
• Experience in disability or community care settings advantageous.

• Formulate and implement Individual Learning Programme (ILP) through professional assessment.
• Engage in continuous assessment, training and evaluation of trainees' holistic development.
• Plan and implement appropriate group activities.
• Monitor health fitness and wellness programmes designed by Allied Health Professionals.
• Coordinate with Social Worker and Centre Manager; maintain trainee files.
• Engage in caregiver dialogue, home visits and support residents during activities.

Job Description

To perform the tasks of teaching, training, supervising, maintaining and developing the functioning level of client to function adequately and independently in the areas of Activities of Daily Living, Community Living, Social and Recreational Skills.

Trainee Management and Development

• Formulate and implement Individual Learning Programme (ILP) through professional assessment.
• Engage in continuous assessment, training and evaluation of trainees' holistic development
• Plan and Implement appropriate group activities
• Plan, implement and monitor trainees' security and safety procedures

Support Allied Health Professionals

• Monitor and implement programmes designed by Allied Health Professionals in the area of health fitness & wellness programme, motivational & behaviour management plans as well as sensory awareness
• Communicate critical information to Social Worker and Centre Manager

Administrative and Operations

• Support unit operational and logistics management
• Ensure centre/trainees safety and security
• Record information in trainees individual files
• Engage in caregiver dialogue sessions, home visits and maintain good rapport and communication with parents / caregivers
• Provide personal care assistance to residents in their daily living such as toileting and grooming and ensure the residents good personal hygiene at all times.
• Provide supervise or assistance to residents during meal times
• Prepare residents for their various activities, meal times and bed times
• Attend staff meeting and training as required

Event Management

Required

Staff will be assigned to oversee at least one of the following duties and will provide assistance to the other staff when required: Camp, Festive Celebrations, Sports Events, First Aid & Medicare, Evacuation & Emergency Planning Team, Transport Duties, Staff Welfare and others

• Organise internal/external events and activities for trainees
• Support volunteer engagement events
• Support public education activities
• Support MINDS events at organisation level
