Job summary

Kerry Consulting partners with a global energy company in Singapore to hire a Junior Operator for the Middle Distillate trading team. You will report to the Operations Manager and coordinate cargo operations with agents, vesselmasters, inspectors, brokers, and counterparties to ensure smooth shipment execution.

The role requires a maritime degree with at least 2 years in trading operations; oil trading experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Degree in Maritime Studies or related discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in trading operations.
• Oil trading experience preferred.
• Knowledge of voyage operations and Incoterms.
• Strong analytical, numerical, communication and attention-to-detail skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Role

The Operator will be responsible for managing cargo operations, coordinating closely with agents, vessel masters, inspectors, brokers, and counterparties to ensure smooth shipment execution. Duties include preparing shipping and inspection instructions, monitoring operational performance, calculating laytime and demurrage, maintaining accurate operational data in internal systems, and identifying optimization opportunities to support trading strategies, maximize profitability, and minimize costs. The role also ensures all operational, contractual, and credit risks are managed in accordance with company guidelines.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will hold a Degree in Maritime Studies or a related discipline, with at least 2 years of relevant experience in trading operations. Experience working in the oil trading industry is preferred. The candidate should possess a working knowledge of voyage operations and Incoterms. Strong analytical, numerical, communication, and attention-to-detail skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
