We are looking for a trader who is analytical, curious, and eager to learn in a fast-paced, market-driven environment. This role is well-suited for candidates interested in energy markets, data analytics, and applied technology e.g. data science and AI, and offers a strong foundation for a career in power trading and portfolio management. You will work alongside traders, portfolio managers, and quantitative analysts to design, build, and deploy data-driven models that enhance trading strategies, generation dispatch, fuel procurement, hedging strategies, and risk management across electricity and gas markets. This role offers hands‑on exposure to real‑world physical and financial energy markets, large‑scale data systems, and applied AI in a production trading environment.
Key Responsibilities
Electricity and Gas Trading Optimisation
- Execute approved and compliant market trades and nominations in Power and Gas Markets (Continuous market trading operation)
- Ensure physical delivery of power through close coordination with power plant on generation dispatch and constraints.
- Optimise and extract value as a portfolio basis through close coordination with internal and external business functions.
Market Analysis
- Deploy descriptive/diagnostic/predictive/prescriptive analytics on business performance and market conditions to guide trading decisions.
- Collaborate with other business functions to integrate market data into models and tools.
- Analyse Singapore’s regulatory and policy developments, and assess impacts to Senoko’s position, strategies, and trading tools.
- Keep abreast of latest market intelligence and trends to inform trading strategies.
Business Agility
- Lead regular upkeeping, documentation, calibration, and validation of optimisation tools and systems to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
- Translate/operationalise analysis, ideas, and roadmap into practical tools, dashboards, and processes.
- Build and maintain data pipelines for market, fundamental, and alternative data
- Provide regular updates on business performances and market conditions to management.
Requirements
- Degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Analytics, Mathematics, Statistics, Quantitative Finance, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience with Python and relevant analytical libraries such as Pandas, NumPy and Scikit-learn.
- Knowledge of SQL, data engineering concepts, Databricks and time‑series analysis.
- Familiarity with optimisation techniques and quantitative modelling.
- Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI, Tableau or equivalent.
- Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP is advantageous.
Preferred Experience
Candidates with exposure to any of the following will have an advantage:
- Power and gas markets, trading, or portfolio management concepts
