Job summary

Dulwich College (Singapore) is seeking a skilled Science Technician to support the Senior School science department, ensuring resources, equipment and stock are prepared for IB/IGCSE science lessons. You will maintain safety, assist teachers and students, and help develop practical activities in a dynamic international school environment.

You should have a science qualification, two years’ lab experience, and a strong eye for detail.

Qualifications

• A Certificate or Diploma in a Science discipline.
• Two years of work experience in a laboratory or engineering setting or similar.
• Experience with electrical and laboratory equipment; risk assessments and health & safety knowledge.
• Experience in secondary school or college setting (IGCSE/IB experience is an advantage).
• Ability to follow procedures and prepare advanced practical experiments for IB Higher Level.

Responsibilities

• Prepare resources, make up solutions, assemble apparatus, and deliver equipment to labs as required.
• Play an active role in developing and trialing new practical activities.
• Assist and demonstrate in practical classes as required.
• Provide technical advice and assistance to teachers, technicians and students.
• Assist teachers to supervise students carrying out investigations and experiments.
• Keep laboratories and preparation rooms tidy and ordered.
• Oversee the storage and maintenance of practical equipment after lessons.
• Ensure safe storage and disposal of chemical and biological waste per regulations.
• Support cleaning staff to ensure safe cleaning of labs.
• Stay up-to-date with health and safety regulations.
• Carry out risk assessments of activities and practicals as requested by teachers.
• Provide advice on safe practice and monitoring activities.
• Assist in managing resources, including books and teaching materials.
• Maintain class sets of laboratory resources (stationery).
• Service and clean equipment and resources as required.
• Stocktaking of equipment, chemicals and stationery to maintain supplies.
• Fix broken science equipment or arrange repair/replacement.
• Monitor access to laboratories and prep areas.
• Attend additional training as required.
• All other duties commensurate with the post.
