Job Summary
The Technician is responsible for supporting and execution of welding process predominantly the following:
GTAW (Manual/Mechanised):
- Edge preparation, pipe fitting
- TIG and MIG (DC/Pulse)
- Stringer and Stepback method
- Aluminum, Stainless Steel and Carbon Steel
- With and without filler material
- With and without backing material
- Able to weld sheet, tubular, and stock material
SMAW (Manual)
- Edge preparation, pipe fitting.
- Standard and low hydrogen electrode (DC/AC)
- Stringer and Stepback method
- Carbon Steel, Structural Steel, Stainless Steel
Technician will be tested under AWS CWI during probation period, and training shall be provided by CWI and Senior welder. In the case of unable to comply to AWS CWI quality of weld performance, the employer reserve the rights to terminate the probation period.
The welder shall be subject to medical examination as per required by AWS CWI (include but not limited to vision acuity test, colour blindness test). Of which if needed, corrective equipment within the employer limit shall be provided.
Technician shall support in the welding of jigs and fixtures, supporting structures, electroplating equipment, and most importantly aerospace and semiconductor component that is subjected to NDT inspection.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to fabricate, fit, and weld products incompliance with internal procedures (WPS, PRQ, QM, WQTR, and such).
- Develop and Trial welding parameter to fine turn welding quality.
- Conduct in-process weld interpretation as per trained/certified by AWS CWI
- Feedback process abnormality and co-develop solutions with engineering team.
- Ensure good housekeeping to prevent contamination.
- Ensure accountability to equipment, welding material, and controlled document ownership and maintenance.
- Ensure full compliance with safety, environmental, cleanroom, and company quality management system requirements.
- Supervise and participate in welding operations to ensure lean manufacturing.
- Support Management with ad-hoc duties or improvement projects related to process enhancement, equipment upgrades, or operational excellence.
Qualifications and Requirement
- Diploma or Degree in Chemical Engineer, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineer, or a related field.
- Experience in electroplating, surface finishing, semiconductor manufacturing, or chemical process environments is an advantage.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with hands‑on experience in process troubleshooting.
- Knowledge wet processing line is an advantage.
- Ability to work in cleanroom or controlled manufacturing environments.
- Good communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
- Good comprehension in written English.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
