Job summary

ENGGSOL PTE. LTD. in Singapore is recruiting a hands-on Marine Technician to carry out daily maintenance tasks on submarines under the supervision of Engineers and Supervisors.

You will perform checks, troubleshoot mechanical or marine diesel systems, carry out tightness tests and coordinate with ship crews for function tests. You will also manage replenishment of submarine supplies, supervise junior technicians, handle lifting and workshop equipment, and adhere to Permit to Work safety

Qualifications

• Must have hands-on maintenance mindset on submarines/gas/oil systems.
• Able to read 2D drawings and schematics.
• Capable of using basic MS Word/Excel for reports and checklists.
• Comfortable working under pressure and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Complete daily on-board maintenance tasks per engineer/supervisor guidance.
• Troubleshoot mechanical/marine diesel defects; perform removal, service, installation; conduct system tightness tests.
• Coordinate function tests with ship crews and conduct joint inspections with ship representative.
• Replenish submarine supplies (gas, fuel oil, lubricants, hydraulic oil).
• Coach and supervise junior technicians in planned and corrective maintenance onboard submarines.
• Handle lifting of equipment and maintenance of workshop tools/equipment.
• Adhere to safety procedures including Permit to Work (PTW) to ensure onboard safety.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.

Job description

• Complete daily hand on maintenance tasks and perform checks to ensure all tasks assigned by Engineers or Supervisors are completed according to the required services and safety standards adhering to SUBSAFE procedures and requirements.
• Perform hands on work in carrying out troubleshooting and rectification of mechanical or marine diesel defects through removal, service, installation and conduct system tightness test.
• Perform joint inspection and acceptance with ship representative and coordinate with ship crews to perform function test of ship systems.
• Carry out replenishment of Submarines supplies such as topping up of gases, fuel oil, lubricating oil and hydraulic oil.
• Coach, supervise and guide a team of junior technicians to carry out the planned and corrective maintenance onboard the Submarines.
• Perform logistical support such as lifting of equipment and components and maintenance of workshop tool and equipment.
• Adhere to strict safety protocols and procedures such as Permit to Work (PTW) system to ensure the safety of oneself and others onboard the submarine.
• Perform any other duties as assigned by the management

Requirements:

• Possess positive attitude and willingness to learn and improve
• Able to use mechanical IMTE such as Torque Wrench, pressure gauges, internal, external micrometer and vernier caliper
• Able to use mechanical tools and equipment such as spanner, ratchet wrench, lever block and chain block (chain hoist)
• Able to read and depict technical documents such such as 2D assembly drawing and schematic diagram
• Ability to work under pressure and work as a team
• Able to perform hands on work and overtime during weekdays and weekends due to work exigencies
• Perform tasks in tight and confined spaces, shipyard and outdoor environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel
