Job summary

Focal Search Pte Ltd is looking for a Mechanic in Singapore to examine, repair, and maintain engines. As a mechanic, you will disassemble and reassemble engines, conducting routine maintenance and performing diagnostics to ensure efficient operation.

The ideal candidate holds a diploma in Mechanical Engineering and has two years of experience, preferably with offshore or marine engine systems. A strong understanding of diesel and gasoline engines is essential for this role.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Examine and test engines to identify problems (visual checks, power checks, scan‑tool diagnostics, listening for unusual noise, etc.).
• Identify issues with the fuel, ignition, cooling, lubrication, exhaust, air intake, and engine mounting/suspension systems.
• For a thorough examination and measurement, disassemble engines or their parts (cylinder head, pistons, crankshaft, timing system).
• Reassemble and calibrate the engine in accordance with manuals and specifications after repairing or replacing worn‑out and defective parts.
• Carry out routine maintenance, such as tune‑ups, belt changes, valve clearance adjustments, oil and filter changes, and spark plug replacements.
• After repair, run the engine (idle and load tests), assess performance, and adjust for
• efficient operation and appropriate fuel usage.

Requirements

• Trade or postsecondary education related to engines (such as a diploma or degree in Mechanical, automated, marine, or comparable engineering
• Two years of experience in the relevant sector is preferred.
• It is very desirable to have prior experience with offshore or marine engine systems, including winches, hydraulics, piping, and instrumentation.
• It is advantageous to have experience repairing engines and compressors.
• Diesel engines (Yanmar, Lister, Kubota, Deutz, HATZ): replacing injectors, high‑pressure fuel systems, and blocks and heads
• Honda gasoline engines: replacing injectors, high‑pressure fuel systems, and blocks and heads
