Job summary

Intermarine UK is seeking a Technical Superintendent in Singapore to drive the safe, efficient, and reliable technical operation of our fleet. A Class 1 COC and seagoing engineering experience are essential, with preferred shore-based exposure to vessel maintenance and technical operations.

The role demands oversight of maintenance planning, regulatory compliance, inspections, and cross-functional liaison with Masters, shipyards, and service providers.

Qualifications

  • Marine Engineer or Chief Engineer background with Class 1 COC.
  • Relevant seagoing engineering experience, preferably with shore-based technical exposure.
  • Strong knowledge of vessel machinery, maintenance systems, and operations.
  • Solid grasp of international maritime regs and best practices (SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM, ISPS).

Responsibilities

  • Oversee technical performance, maintenance, and readiness of vessels in the fleet.
  • Monitor compliance with international regulations, Flag State and Classification Society requirements.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance, repairs, defect rectification and technical works.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and follow up on maintenance items and corrective actions.
  • Provide technical guidance to Masters, Chief Engineers, and onboard personnel.
  • Review technical reports and performance to identify improvements.
  • Liaise with crews, management, charterers, authorities, shipyards, and service providers.
  • Assist in audits, inspections, dry-docking, repairs and other planned activities.
  • Promote high standards of safety, reliability and compliance across the fleet.

Are you an experienced marine engineering professional looking to transition into or further develop a shore-based career?

We are seeking a Technical Superintendent with Class 1 COC to support the safe, efficient, and reliable technical operation of our fleet. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with relevant seagoing engineering experience and a strong understanding of vessel maintenance and technical operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee the technical performance, maintenance, and operational readiness of vessels within the assigned fleet.
  • Monitor vessel compliance with applicable international regulations, Flag State, Classification Society, and company requirements.
  • Coordinate planned maintenance, repairs, defect rectification, and technical work required to maintain vessel reliability and safety.
  • Conduct vessel inspections and follow up on technical findings, corrective actions, and outstanding maintenance items.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to Masters, Chief Engineers, and onboard personnel on vessel machinery, maintenance, and operational matters.
  • Review technical reports, maintenance records, defects, and vessel performance to identify areas requiring attention and continuous improvement.
  • Liaise with vessel crews, management, charterers, Flag Administrations, Classification Societies, customers, shipyards, service providers, and external parties on technical matters.
  • Assist in preparing vessels for internal and external audits, inspections, dry-docking, repairs, and other planned technical activities.
  • Promote high standards of technical performance, safety, reliability, and compliance across the fleet.
What We’re Looking For
  • Marine Engineer / Chief Engineer background with Class 1 COC
  • Relevant seagoing engineering experience, preferably with experience in a shore-based technical role.
  • Good understanding of vessel machinery, maintenance, planned maintenance systems, and technical operations.
  • Strong understanding of international maritime regulations, industry standards, and best practices, including SOLAS, MARPOL, STCW, ISM Code, ISPS Code, IGF Code, SIRE, CDI, and SIGTTO guidelines, where applicable.
  • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, interpersonal, reporting, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently and coordinate effectively with vessel and shore-based teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and technical report preparation.
