Job summary

SingAREN invites applications for a Technical Specialist (Network) to ensure robust and resilient network infrastructure for Singapore's R&E community. You will enable cutting-edge scientific collaborations and demonstrations with international partners, while SingAREN supports your professional growth through training.

The role focuses on configuring and maintaining network systems, supporting Science DMZ, data lake projects, and access control, with collaboration across teams.

Qualifications

• Must have Linux familiarity with container-based systems (e.g. Docker).
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and programming (Python).
• Knowledge of AI concepts is beneficial but not required.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills are essential.
• Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

• Engage with member organisations to assist with network connectivity.
• Provide technical support for Science DMZ and Data Lake development.
• Manage the authorisation and access infrastructure setup and support.
• Provide server/network implementation and maintenance.
• Collaborate to deploy AI Ops.

SingAREN is Singapore's National Research and Education (R&E) Network, and the sole provider of local and international networks dedicated to serving the R&E community in Singapore since 2003. SingAREN is recognised as a National Research Infrastructure by National Research Foundation (Singapore).

SingAREN’s members consist of the Institutions of higher learning, research organizations, government, and network industry players. The SingAREN Open Exchange (SOE) interconnects Singapore’s R&E community to the R&E networks in other countries, including Asia, Australia, Europe and the US. SingAREN offers value-added services to Singapore’s R&E community, including eduroam, Singapore Access Federation (SGAF), and Database Mirroring Services. http://www.singaren.net.sg/

Technical Specialist (Network)

You shall play an integral role in ensuring a robust and resilient network infrastructure, in enabling cutting-edge scientific research collaborations and network technology demonstrations between the Research and Education communities in Singapore and their international partners.

SingAREN shall support and provide the necessary training for you to realise your potential and for carrying out your duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage with members’ organisations to assist with network connectivity
• Provide technical support for Science DMZ and Data Lake development
• Manage the authorisation and access infrastructure set-up and support
• Provide server/network implementation and maintenance
• Work together to deploy AI Ops.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Engineering or Science, or a relevant field. Polytechnic Diploma holders in Computer Engineering with related skillsets would also be considered.
• Familiar with Linux, with knowledge of container-based systems (e.g Docker)
• Familiar with basic Networking Concepts
• Possess Programming knowledge (e.g. Python)
• Knowledge and experience on Application development would be beneficial
• Some knowledge on AI is beneficial.
• A team player with strong communication skills.
• Possess a pro-active mindset with analytical and problem-solving skills
• Able to work independently in a dynamic work environment
