Job summary

SingAREN is Singapore's National Research and Education Network seeking a Technical Specialist (Cybersecurity) to strengthen trusted network infrastructure and enable cutting-edge research collaborations with international partners. Focus will be on cybersecurity and expanding the Threat Intelligence framework at SingAREN.

You will engage with member organisations for connectivity, support Science DMZ and Data Lake development, and manage access infrastructure, servers, and the Threat

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Engineering or Science or polytechnic diploma in related field.
• Familiar with Linux and container-based systems (e.g., Docker).
• Basic networking concepts.
• Programming knowledge (Python).
• Knowledge/experience in application development is beneficial.
• Some knowledge of AI is beneficial.
• Team spirit with strong communication skills.
• Pro‑active mindset; ability to work independently.

• Manage the authorization and access infrastructure setup and support.
• Provide server/network implementation and maintenance.

SingAREN is Singapore's National Research and Education (R&E) Network, and the sole provider of local and international networks dedicated to serving the R&E community in Singapore since 2003. SingAREN is recognised as a National Research Infrastructure by National Research Foundation (Singapore).

SingAREN’s members consist of the Institutions of higher learning, research organizations, government, andnetwork industry players. The SingAREN Open Exchange (SOE) interconnects Singapore’s R&E community to the R&E networks in other countries, including Asia, Australia, Europe and the US. Technical Specialist (Cybersecurity)

You shall play an integral role in ensuring a trusted network infrastructure, in enabling cutting-edge scientific research collaborations and network technology demonstrations between the Research and Education communities in Singapore and their international partners. You will focus on the cybersecurity aspect with a special focus on maintaining and expanding the Threat intelligence framework at SingAREN.

SingAREN shall support and provide the necessary training for you to realise your potential and for carrying out your duties.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you shall:

• Engage with members’ organisations to assist with network connectivity
• Provide technical support for Science DMZ and Data Lake development
• Manage the authorisation and access infrastructure set-up and support
• Provide server/network implementation and maintenance
• Manage the Threat Intelligence platform.

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Engineering or Science, or a relevant field. Polytechnic Diploma holders in Computer Engineering with related skillsets would also be considered.
• Familiar with Linux, with knowledge of container-based systems(e.g Docker)
• Familiar with basic Networking Concepts
• Possess Programming knowledge (e.g.Python)
• Knowledge and experience on Application development would be beneficial
• Some knowledge on AI is beneficial.
• A team player with strong communication skills.
• Possess a pro-active mindset with analytical and problem-solving skills
• Able to work independently in a dynamic work environment
