Job summary

Google is seeking a cost management professional for APAC data center preconstruction activities in Singapore. You will own cost estimates, benchmarking, and coordinate with the estimating teams, ensuring budget coverage for extended workforce estimators.

You will partner with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, and partner teams to align data-driven cost data with project needs, reporting to the APAC Region Estimating Manager and collaborating with Global Estimating.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in construction cost management activities and program management.
• Experience creating infrastructure designs (e.g., telecom, electrical, mechanical), drawing sets for builds, and remodels of data center networking spaces.
• Experience in pre-construction quantity surveying and cost estimating.
• Experience in design processes, procurement, and work package planning.

Responsibilities

• Own cost estimates/cost plans, cost benchmarking, communications and manage meetings and deliverables as the point of contact between the project teams and the estimating team as well as ensuring adequate support and budget for project consultant (extended workforce) estimators.
• Be responsible for the development, maintenance, and updates to all Data Center construction cost estimates for ongoing and new data center projects as well as providing data analytics regarding those estimates for the region.
• Build trusted relationships with program stakeholders, including managing expectations of executive cross-functional leads and ensuring they have the insights they need to make effective decisions.

Job description

Minimum qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in construction cost management activities and program management.
• Experience creating infrastructure designs (e.g., telecom, electrical, mechanical), drawing sets for builds, and remodels of data center networking spaces.
• Experience in pre-construction quantity surveying and cost estimating.
• Experience in design processes, procurement, and work package planning.

Preferred qualifications

• RICS/SCSI/AIQS (or equivalent) chartered or affiliated.
• Experience in managing vendor relationships, with a demonstrated understanding of standard practices in the design and construction industry.
• Experience in the commercial side of hyper-scale data center builds working for a General Contractor (GC)/Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) contractor, Consultant or end-user/client/developer side.

About The Job

In this role, you will own cost estimates, cost benchmarking, and the preconstruction commercial activities of new data centre builds. You will act as the point of contact between project team key stakeholders and the APAC Estimating teams as well as ensuring adequate support and budget for extended workforce project consultant estimators. You will work closely with Engineering, Construction, Procurement, and partner teams, ensuring all cost data developed and managed meets the requirements specific to each project’s needs. You will report directly to the EMEA/APAC Region Estimating Manager and work with the Strategic Estimating team to ensure alignment within Global Estimating.
