Bank Julius Baer & Co. ltd. in Singapore seeks a Tech Lead (Application Responsible) to guide the Software Engineering Team in delivering scalable Java applications built on Spring Boot, JMS/MQ, and streaming data.

You will own technical direction, manage a team of engineers, work with stakeholders across finance functions, ensure code quality and adherence to standards, and drive Agile practices to deliver robust, maintainable systems.

Formación

• Proven experience leading software engineering teams in finance domain.
• Strong Java, Spring Boot, and messaging (JMS/MQ/Kafka) experience.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Ability to design scalable, robust software architectures.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

This role is for a Tech Lead (Application Responsible) for the software Engineering Team.

KEY FEATURES OF THE POSITION

Functional / Technical

• Understand business / system requirements and translate them into technical solutions that are scalable, stable and fit for purpose
• Development and delivery with Java, EJB, Spring Boot, MySQL, Oracle, IBM MQ and Streaming
• Responsible and accountable for team of software engineers, ensuring they are productive and aligned with bank goals
• Ensure engineering team training needs are identified based on project needs and emerging team and get them organized
• Build effective relationship and partnership with internal stakeholders to support their technology needs
• Communicate highly technical issues to non-technical audience
• Ensure adherence to the bank standards (including code, security and performance)
• Help resolve team and inter personnel conflicts
• Passionate about technologies and building robust and scalable Java Systems
• Analysis, design coding, and implementation of complex and custom-built applications
• Work collaboratively with team to achieve goals. Experience working in Agile methodologies, such as Scrum, and/or Extreme programming
• Encourage innovation and adoption of new technologies to enhance application usage experience.
• Provide technical guidance and expertise, resolve complex technical problems
• Investigate and resolve production issues to help maintain a stable production environment; remain calm and effective in crisis

Client / Stakeholder Management (internal & external)

• Stake holder management – working closely with finance, business change engineers, and project managers to drive and manage IT delivery
• Analyse requirements, estimate efforts, plan timeline, manage progress.
• Ensure awareness, involvement and support from the key stakeholders and participants by building strong project teams and maintaining robust communication on the project status throughout its lifecycle
• Drive and review technical and architectural design, enforce architectural guidelines and challenge status quo.

Regulatory Responsibilities &/OR Risk Management

• Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
• Take responsibility for ensuring that risks and issues are identified and managed closely and drive all stakeholders to deliver on time and to the required quality standards

SKILLS REQUIREMENTS OF THE POSITION

Professional

• Well organized and ability to prioritise and carry out multiple tasks
• Able to influence and drive projects to meet key milestones and overcome challenges
• Able to translate functional requirements to efficient and fit-for-purpose technical solutions
• Preferably, have experience in finance/banking domain.
• Significant technology experience essential
• Must have both functional as well as line management experience
• Demonstrable exposure to process improvement initiatives required

Technical

Must Have:

• Core Java 8+ and JUnit.
• Spring Boot
• Strong computer science knowledge (algorithms, data structures, object-oriented design)
• TDD. Able to write acceptance test.
• Maven
• Basic Linux shell scripting commands
• Messaging Concepts. (JMS, MQ, KAFKA)
• Relational Database concepts, SQL, joins, index, triggers etc.
• Web Services Rest, SOAP.
• Spring core concepts.
• Experience in SQL queries optimisation
• Familiarity with Intellij, Git, SonarQube/SonarLint
