Job summary

LMA Recruitment's client in Singapore is seeking a driven insurance professional to join the Commercial P&C Underwriting team. You will lead a team of underwriters and manage your own underwriting portfolio, including new and renewal business, to deliver profitable growth and excellent service.

Responsibilities include assessing, underwriting and pricing risks, preparing quotations and policy documents, and supporting business development while maintaining underwriting discipline.

Qualifications

• Diploma or higher qualification is required.
• CGI or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Experience in commercial general insurance underwriting.
• Good understanding of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused with ability to build relationships; Mandarin is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assess, underwrite and price commercial insurance risks in line with internal guidelines and reinsurance arrangements.
• Manage new business, renewals and endorsements to maintain profitability.
• Support portfolio growth and profitability targets.
• Prepare quotations, renewal documentation and insurance summaries; manage renewals for retention.
• Provide responsive and professional service to clients and brokers; address inquiries promptly.
• Monitor premium collections to ensure compliance with credit control requirements.
• Prepare policy documentation, certificates and monthly management reports.
• Assist with day-to-day operational activities to ensure smooth department operations.
• Participate in business improvement initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

This role offers the opportunity to manage a diverse portfolio of commercial risks while working closely with brokers, corporate clients and internal stakeholders to deliver profitable business growth and exceptional customer service.

You will be responsible for leading a team of underwriters plus managed your own underwriting portfolio new and renewal business, supporting business development initiatives, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality underwriting and operational excellence.

Requirements

• Diploma or higher qualification in any discipline.
• Certificate in General Insurance (CGI) or equivalent qualification preferred.
• Experience in commercial general insurance underwriting
• Good understanding of commercial insurance products and underwriting principles.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.Strong communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
• Customer-focused with the ability to build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
• Able to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
• Mandarin language skills would be advantageous to support Mandarin-speaking clients.
