Qualifications

• Diploma/Certificate of Competency as specified for Deck/Engine Officer.
• Sailed on merchant vessels for at least one year in appropriate ranks.
• Engineering degree in Mechanical, Petroleum or Chemical Engineering (full-time).

Responsibilities

• Board merchant ships at sea and ensure safe operations.
• Gauge cargo tanks and conduct bunker surveys and sampling.
• Perform ship-to-ship or terminal tank surveys for cargo cleanliness and gauging.
• Gauge and sample tank farms and bulk liquid terminals for storage and transfer operations.
• Inspect damaged cargo from containers and investigate loss or damage claims.
• Prepare survey reports with recommended actions and repairs.
• Travel at short notice and work flexible schedules.

Education

Diploma in Marine Engineering with a Class 3 or 4 Motor, Certificate of Competency or Diploma in Nautical Studies with a Class 2 Certificate of Competency as a Deck Officer or Combined Certificate of Competency for Deck and Engine

Degree in Mechanical or Petroleum or Chemical Engineering (full-time four years or more)
