Job summary

Exctel Engineering, headquartered in Singapore, is seeking an AI Engineer - Digital Engineering to join our team in Singapore. You will contribute to developing AI use cases, preparing data, and building Python data pipelines in a hands-on environment.

You will work on generative AI tools, prompt design, RAG, and integrate AI workflows with industrial systems such as IoT, VMS, and SCADA. Fresh graduates with internships are welcome.

Qualifications

• 0-3 years of experience in software, data, or AI engineering.
• Fresh graduates with relevant internships or projects are welcome to apply.
• Exposure to telecom or industrial systems (radio, networking, PAGA, CCTV, SCADA) is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support the Principal Systems Engineer in developing and piloting AI use cases.
• Collect, clean, and organise engineering data and project documents.
• Develop and test Python scripts, data pipelines, and prototypes.
• Build and test generative AI tools, including prompt design and RAG.
• Assist integration of AI tools with IoT, VMS, and SCADA workflows.
• Monitor deployed tools and fix user-reported issues.
• Prepare user guides and train engineers on new tools.
• Follow data security, client confidentiality, and responsible AI practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Support the Principal Systems Engineer in developing and piloting AI use cases, such as automated document generation, compliance review, and design calculations.
• Collect, clean, and organise engineering data, including drawings, specifications, equipment lists, and project documents.
• Develop and test Python scripts, data pipelines, and prototypes, and help move them into everyday use.
• Build and test generative AI tools, including prompt design, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and output evaluation.
• Support the integration of AI tools with engineering workflows and industrial systems such as IoT, VMS, and SCADA.
• Monitor and maintain deployed tools, and fix issues reported by users.
• Prepare user guides and documentation, and help train engineers on new tools.
• Follow company standards for data security, client confidentiality, and responsible AI use.

Requirements

Education & Experience

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or a related field.
• 0-3 years of experience in software, data, or AI engineering. Fresh graduates with relevant internships or projects are welcome to apply.
• Exposure to telecom or industrial systems, such as radio, networking, PAGA, CCTV or SCADA, will be an advantage.

Technical Skills

• AI: Machine Learning, Computer Vision, Generative AI (LLMs, RAG), and Deep Learning.
• Data & Platforms: Data Pipelines, Virtual Machines, and Containers.
• Industrial Communication: Basic knowledge of Modbus, OPC UA, or similar protocols will be an advantage.
• Programming: Python required - SQL and Bash (Linux) will be an advantage.

Professional Skills

• Eagerness to learn and keep up with new AI technologies.
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Clear written and spoken English, with good documentation habits.
• A team player who can also work independently.
