Job Description: Systems Analyst (Java)

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyse user requirements and translate them into functional and technical application specifications.
• Analyse, design, develop, test, implement, and maintain application systems and web-based applications.
• Perform database design, system integration, and quality assurance to ensure applications meet business requirements.
• Prepare technical documentation, troubleshoot application issues, and work closely with users, project teams, and vendors to ensure successful project delivery.

Qualifications and Experience

• Minimum of five (5) years of experience in systems analysis, application and database design, software development, implementation, testing, and quality assurance.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and project management skills, with the ability to work independently in gathering user requirements and translating them into application specifications.
• Vendor management experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with business users and technical teams are also required.

Technical Skills and Technologies

Programming Languages: Java, JavaScript, HTML, XML, SQL, and Python. Knowledge of MVS Job Control Language (JCL) is advantageous.

Frameworks and Technologies: Spring Framework (Spring Batch, Spring Boot, Spring Web), Java Persistence API (JPA), Hibernate, Angular/AngularJS, Node.js, and Service Component Architecture (SCA).

Application Development and Architecture Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD), Responsive Web Design, Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA), RESTful Web Services, AJAX, and web-based application development.

Development Tools and IDEs: Eclipse, NetBeans, Visual Studio Code (VS Code), and web-based Integrated Development Environments (IDEs).

Application Servers and Web Servers: JBoss Application Server (WildFly), WebSphere, Apache HTTP Server, and Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS).

Databases: IBM Db2, Microsoft SQL Server, MongoDB, and Oracle.

Platforms and Operating Systems: Red Hat Linux, Windows, Unix (Solaris), and mainframe environments, including MVS, OS/390, and z/OS.

Mainframe Development Tools: IBM Rational Developer for z Systems (RDz) and IBM Developer for z/OS (IDz).

Testing and Business Rules: Software testing tools and rules engines.

Preferred Skills

• Experience in Pega application development, including Pega Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Pega frameworks, and PegaRULES Process Commander (PRPC), is an advantage.
• Experience with Java Enterprise Edition (Java EE) or equivalent enterprise application frameworks, front-end technologies such as jQuery or Struts, and persistence frameworks such as Hibernate or JPA is preferred.
• Familiarity with COBOL, CICS, and Db2 in mainframe environments would also be beneficial.

Additional Information

Employment Type: Contract

Location: Central Region, Singapore

Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:00 PM

Work Arrangement: Hybrid / Onsite

Salary Range: SGD 6,000 – 7,800 per month (with variable bonus)
