Job summary

MJC Sunsetway is a dedicated childcare and education provider seeking a committed Student Care Teacher to join the Sunset Way West Region. This full-time role focuses on safe, nurturing support for primary-aged students before-school, after-school, and during holidays.

You will plan age-appropriate activities, support learning, maintain records, and communicate with families and school staff to promote wellbeing and progress within a collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Qualifications in childcare, education or related field.
• Experience with primary-aged children in care or education.
• First Aid certification.
• Strong communication and safeguarding commitment.
• Ability to plan and deliver engaging activities.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and support students during before-school, after-school, and holiday care sessions.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities to promote learning and development.
• Foster positive relationships and support emotional development and confidence.
• Maintain attendance, behaviour, and incident records accurately.
• Communicate with parents, carers and school staff regarding wellbeing and progress.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organised care environment in line with health and safety.
• Support students with homework and learning activities where appropriate.
• Model positive behaviour and help students develop self-regulation and conflict resolution.
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide consistent, high-quality care across sessions.
• Respond promptly to safeguarding concerns and student needs.

About the role

MJC Sunsetway is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Student Care Teacher to join our team in the Sunset Way West Region. This is a full-time position that plays a crucial role in providing safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate care and education for primary-aged students. As a Student Care Teacher, you will be instrumental in creating a supportive learning environment where children can thrive both academically and socially during before-school, after-school, and holiday care programmes. This role is essential to our mission of delivering high-quality childcare and education services that complement and enhance the primary school experience.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support students during before-school, after-school, and holiday care sessions in a safe and welcoming environment
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, physical development, and social skills
• Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging emotional development and building confidence
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behaviour, and any incidents or concerns
• Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and school staff regarding student wellbeing and progress
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organised care environment in compliance with health and safety regulations
• Support students with homework and learning activities where appropriate
• Model positive behaviour and help students develop self-regulation and conflict resolution skills
• Collaborate with colleagues to provide consistent, quality care across all sessions
• Respond promptly and appropriately to student needs and any safeguarding concerns

• Relevant qualifications in childcare, education, or a related field
• Proven experience working with primary-aged children in a care or educational setting
• Strong understanding of child development and age-appropriate practice
• First Aid certification
