SGT Engineering Consultancy Pte. Ltd.

in Singapore seeks a motivated Civil & Geotechnical Design Engineer to contribute to the design and analysis of civil, structural and temporary works for infrastructure and building projects. You will gain exposure to ERSS, underground structures, deep excavations, tunnelling, and coordinate with contractors and authorities while developing strong practical design and engineering skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering; recognized by Singapore PE board.
• Minimum 2 years consultancy/design experience in civil/structural works.
• Experience with ERSS, geotechnical and tunnelling related design is a plus but not mandatory.
• Ability to prepare engineering calculations and technical reports.

Responsibilities

• Design, analysis and plan for Civil & Structural engineering works, mainly on ERSS, geotechnical, temporary steel structure and tunnelling works.
• Prepare design calculations, drawings and carry out Authority submissions.
• Responsible for timely submission of plans and reports to Client and Authorities.
• Coordinate with contractor, consultant, sub-con, and other trades such as M&E and architectural for project specifications & other technical issues.
• Assist the Professional Engineer/QP in technical submissions and responses to authority comments.
• Assist in project coordination and oversee all Structural/Civil works on site and ensure all related activities follow drawings.
• Attend meetings inclusive of technical meetings and site walks during the construction phase.
• Review shop drawings submitted by contractor.
• Document control and compilation accordance to company ISO standard.

About the Role

We are looking for a motivated Civil & Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our engineering consultancy team.

The successful candidate will be involved in the design and analysis of civil, structural and temporary works for infrastructure and building projects in Singapore. The position offers good exposure to a variety of engineering works, including ERSS, underground structures, deep excavations, tunnelling works, temporary works and structural engineering.

This position is suitable for a young engineer who has gained some consultancy/design experience and would like to further develop strong practical design and engineering skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, analysis and plan for Civil & Structural engineering works, mainly on ERSS, geotechnical, temporary steel structure and tunnelling works
• Prepare design calculations, drawings and carry out Authority submissions
• Responsible for timely submission of plans and reports to Client and Authorities
• To coordinate & liaise with contractor, consultant, sub-con and other trades eg M&E and architectural for projects specifications & other technical issues
• Assist the Professional Engineer/QP in technical submissions and responses to authority comments
• To assist in project coordination and oversee of all Structural/Civil works on site and ensure all related activities are carried out as per drawings
• Attend meetings inclusive of technical meetings and site walks during the construction phase of project
• Review shop drawings submitted by contractor
• Document control and compilation accordance to company ISO standard

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering from university recognized by Singapore PE board
• Min 2 years consultant working experience
• Experience with engineering software such as STAAD.Pro, SAFE, IDEA StatiCa, PLAXIS 2D or similar software will be an advantage.
• Good knowledge of Civil and Structural specifications & requirements.
• Consultant working experience, especially experience on ERSS design, geotechnical works, temporary steel structural, underground infrastructure, tunnelling design will be an advantage but is not mandatory.
• Able to prepare clear engineering calculations and technical reports.
• Responsible, willing to learn and able to work independently with appropriate guidance.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
