Job summary

ST Engineering in Singapore is seeking a Senior Strategic Finance Business Partner to translate financial and operational data into actionable insights that drive profitable growth, project performance, cash generation and capital efficiency.

The role leads planning, forecasting, management reporting and financial governance, while partnering business leaders on tenders, investments, delivery performance and key commercial decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy, Finance or related; professional qualification preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in finance business partnering, FP&A, business controlling, project finance or financial accounting, with experience supporting senior business leaders.
• Strong knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, cash flow and net working capital management, taxation and statutory compliance.
• Demonstrated experience in project costing, tender evaluation, pricing, financial modelling, business cases or investment analysis; experience in a project- or service-based business is advantageous.
• Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint; hands-on experience with SAP, Hyperion or comparable ERP and performance-management systems is preferred.
• Experience using analytics, AI-enabled productivity tools or workflow automation to improve finance processes is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Partner the Business leadership and operational teams to shape business plans, evaluate strategic priorities and support timely, fact-based decision-making.
• Provide constructive challenge and recommendations on revenue growth, margins, cost base, resource deployment, working capital and return on capital employed.
• Translate financial results and business drivers into clear management insights, highlighting trends, risks, opportunities and required actions.
• Present financial performance and recommendations to senior management at monthly business reviews and other management forums.
• Lead the annual budget, periodic forecasts and five-year plan, including assumptions, templates, consolidation, scenario analysis and management presentations.
• Establish and monitor financial and operational KPIs aligned with business outcomes, and drive accountability for delivery against targets.
• Prepare high-quality management reports, variance analysis and forward-looking commentary covering P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, order intake/order book, net working capital and project performance.
• Conduct benchmarking, industry and peer analysis where relevant to support performance improvement and strategic planning.
• Partner business and operations teams on tenders, pricing, project costing, bid reviews, investment proposals and business cases.
• Develop and review financial models, including profitability, cash flow, sensitivity, discounted cash flow and return analyses, to support commercial and investment decisions.
• Review project financial performance, including SAP Work Breakdown Structure balances, estimates at completion, revenue and margin recognition, contract assets and liabilities, billing, collections and cash conversion.
• Identify financial and commercial risks early, recommend mitigation actions and follow through with accountable stakeholders.
• Oversee the integrity and timely completion of monthly closing and financial reporting, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow projections and supporting schedules.
• Ensure appropriate application of Financial Reporting Standards, accounting policies, taxation and statutory requirements.
• Maintain strong financial governance and internal controls, and coordinate internal audit, external audit and compliance matters through timely closure.
• Work closely with Finance Operations and other corporate functions to resolve accounting, reporting and control issues.
• Lead, coach and develop finance team members, setting clear priorities and quality standards while building strong business partnering capabilities.
• Drive standardisation, automation and continuous improvement across reporting, planning and finance workflows.
• Leverage SAP, Hyperion, analytics, AI-enabled tools and workflow automation to improve speed, control and insight quality, while applying sound professional judgement and validating outputs.
• Undertake ad hoc analysis and cross-functional projects that support eServ and broader business priorities.
