Job summary

Barrington James is seeking a Class 2 Steam Engineer to join our site operations team, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of our facility and steam systems.

You will oversee the plant, supervise boiler operators, monitor process parameters and develop SOPs to optimise performance while maintaining safety and compliance. MOM registration and familiarity with FMEA/HAZOP are preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum Class 2 Steam Engineer, MOM-registered.
• FMEA, HAZOP and Job Hazard Analysis familiarity.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee safe and smooth operation of the facility, steam system and auxiliaries.
• Monitor plant performance through control systems, BMS and DCS.
• Conduct regular field inspections and equipment checks.
• Lead and supervise boiler and plant operators.
• Monitor steam pressure, temperature and operating parameters.
• Troubleshoot plant upsets and equipment malfunctions.
• Analyse plant and steam operations data and identify opportunities for optimisation.
• Develop and implement SOPs for plant operations and maintenance.
• Ensure maintenance activities are properly tracked through CMMS.
• Identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety requirements.

Requirements

• Minimum Class 2 Steam Engineer, registered with MOM
• Familiarity with FMEA, HAZOP and Job Hazard Analysis
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills
• Good interpersonal and leadership skills
• Innovative and proactive approach to plant operations
• Registered First Aid certification is an added advantage
