Job summary

WUXI BIOLOGICS BIOPHARMACEUTICALS SINGAPORE PRIVATE LIMITED is seeking a Senior shift steam engineer to lead a team of technicians in the safe operation and maintenance of steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers and wastewater treatment facilities. You will supervise and train boiler attendants, monitor plant performance and ensure compliance with health, safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor in Engineering is required or equivalent.
• First or second grade steam engineer certification is required.
• Min 8–10 years of experience in central utilities with steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers and wastewater treatment.
• Min 2 years in supervisory/leadership role.
• Experience with PLC and basic automation troubleshooting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead shift technicians and supervisors to ensure safe, efficient operation of steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers, compressors, water softeners and WWTP.
• Oversee fire alarms, abnormal plant operation, and report to the Head of SEM.
• Monitor control system parameters, BMS and DCS for safe operation.
• Conduct regular field inspections and ensure compliance with SOPs and maintenance plans.
• Develop and implement maintenance plans and procedures; manage CMMS work orders.
• Report plant performance and uptime, identify optimization opportunities and risks.

Job description

Lead a team of shift technicians (or boiler attendants) in the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of Steam boilers, Water chillers, Glycol chillers, Cooling towers, Softeners, Air handling units, Hot-water system, Compressed air system and Waste Treatment facility.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for smooth and safe operations of the facility and including the steam system, softeners, air handling units, chillers, air compressors, WWTP and auxiliaries' operations.
• In most facility, as the shift steam engineer is the most senior on site, he oversees fire alarms management, first cases, abnormal plant operation and reports directly to the First Grade Steam Engineer or the Head of SEM.
• Responsible for the operating status of plant by observing control system parameters, BMS, distributed control systems of the facility and including the steam system and auxiliaries' operations
• Conduct regular field inspections of plants, stations, or sub systems and equipment to ensure normal and safe operating conditions
• Supervise and lead the boiler and plant technicians to operate treatment processes according to process parameters and emission limits compliance
• Identify plant optimization points and support the implementation of the approved tasks by the site manager.
• Propose, append, develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures and maintenance plans on plant operations and regular maintenance of the plant with the support of operations and maintenance team.
• Analyze, interpret and report on steam operations data and plant performance on periodic and timely basis.
• Recover plant process upsets, equipment malfunctions
• Conduct regular inspection and testing of equipment to ensure it is safe and operating efficiently.
• Ensure and follow up on work orders generated via CMMS for execution of preventive and corrective maintenance activities to ensure safe operation of equipment
• Inspecting facilities for hazards such as leaks, corrosion, or exposure to extreme temperatures
• Monitoring steam pressure and temperature levels to ensure safe operating conditions
• Consulting with management to provide advice on how to improve efficiency of processes or reduce operating costs
• Management and compliance of Workplace Health and Safety Act
• Complete the necessary technical and corporate training to ensure competency and adherence to compliance requirements
• Other tasks assigned by the Head of SEM

Requirement

• Diploma / Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
• First or second grade steam engineer certification
• Min 8 - 10 years of working experience in central utilities with hands-on experience in operation and maintenance of steam boilers, chillers, cooling towers, air compressors, air handling units, water softener system and waste treatment facility
• Min 2 years of experience supervisory/team lead management as this role offers leadership opportunity to lead a team of technicians including boiler attendants and ability to assign work during shift duties.
• Preferably with experiences in handling PLC and Low-tension electrical system or ability to conduct basis automation troubleshooting.
