Job summary

Google's Singapore office seeks a Staff Software Engineer (Technical Lead) for Consumer Payments. You will anchor multi-market backend payments systems, design scalable architectures, and drive cross-team technical directions while remaining hands-on.

You will mentor engineers, set coding standards, and partner with PMs, UX, and global teams to translate ambitious goals into resilient solutions, with a focus on low-latency, high-throughput processing and secure, compliant platforms.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in CS or related technical field.
8 years programming in Java, Go, C++, Python.
8 years designing, building, operating scalable backend systems.
6 years leading end-to-end software projects.
6 years with software architecture and guiding stakeholders.

Responsibilities

Define and drive technical strategy across consumer payments and markets.
Write scalable code and design architecture for critical components.
Partner with Directors, PMs, UX, and TPMs to align technical strategies across markets.
Advocate for AI-accelerated development workflows and AI-generated code quality.
Provide technical guidance across multiple workstreams; mentor senior engineers.
