Job summary

Onto Innovation is seeking a regional supplier quality and manufacturing senior specialist in Singapore to support quality and manufacturing activities across regional factories and key suppliers. Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
• 5-10 years of experience in high-complexity manufacturing, supplier quality, or NPI engineering.
• Combined Quality Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering experience.
• Hands-on expertise in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and structured problem-solving.
• Experience with local or regional suppliers, contract manufacturers, or extended factories.
• Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and ASQ certification.
• Strong communication, data-analysis, and project-management capability.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day quality and manufacturing activities at regional extended factories and key suppliers.
• Evaluate supplier processes, equipment, controls, and manufacturing capability for consistency, repeatability, and scale.
• Conduct on-site process audits, technical reviews, and build-readiness assessments for product transfers into mass production.
• Lead improvement initiatives that reduce defects, improve yield, and increase process robustness.
• Lead regional supplier readiness from early development through launch and high-volume production.
• Drive APQP deliverables, including PFMEA, control plans, process flow diagrams, MSA, and capability studies.
• Manage PPAP submissions for new components, assemblies, and critical processes.
• Partner with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to establish manufacturability and strong process controls.
• Serve as the primary extended-factory customer-quality interface for regional Field Service teams on OBQ and DOA events.
• Lead containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective action using 8D, 4D, or equivalent structured methods.
• Support process qualification, validation, PFMEA, COPQ, and continuous improvement.
• Maintain compliance with quality agreements, product specifications, and change-control requirements, including CE.
• Manage Product Change Notifications (PCNs), including risk assessment and validation for supplier-driven changes.
• Build trusted relationships with local suppliers and extended factories; use KPIs to identify risks and improvements.

Job Summary & Responsibilities

Regional supplier quality and manufacturing support

• Support day-to-day quality and manufacturing activities at regional extended factories and key suppliers.

NPD-to-NPI execution

• Lead regional supplier readiness from early development through launch and high-volume production.
• Drive APQP deliverables, including PFMEA, control plans, process flow diagrams, MSA, and capability studies.
• Manage PPAP submissions for new components, assemblies, and critical processes.
• Partner with R&D, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain to establish manufacturability and strong process controls.

Quality engineering and structured problem-solving

• Serve as the primary extended-factory customer-quality interface for regional Field Service teams on Out-of-Box Quality (OBQ) and Dead-on-Arrival (DOA) events.
• Lead containment, root-cause analysis, and corrective action using 8D, 4D, or equivalent structured methods.
• Support process qualification, validation, PFMEA, Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), and continuous improvement.
• Maintain compliance with quality agreements, product specifications, and change-control requirements, including applicable CE requirements.
• Manage Product Change Notifications (PCNs), including risk assessment and validation for supplier-driven changes.

Supplier performance and cross-functional leadership

• Build trusted working relationships with local suppliers and extended factories.
• Use KPIs and scorecards to identify risks, align improvement plans, and sustain accountability.
• Facilitate technical reviews, supplier meetings, and quality reviews focused on quality, delivery, and operational excellence.
• Provide technical guidance on manufacturability, quality standards, process controls, and complete NPI documentation.
• Collaborate effectively across time zones with Engineering, Operations, Service, Supply Chain, and Quality.

Qualifications

REQUIRED

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Optical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field.

5-10 years of experience in high-complexity manufacturing, supplier quality, or NPI engineering.

Combined Quality Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering experience.

Hands-on expertise in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and structured problem-solving.

Experience with local or regional suppliers, contract manufacturers, or extended factories.

Lean Six Sigma Green Belt and ASQ certification.

Strong communication, data-analysis, and project-management capability.

PREFERRED

Master’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field.

Experience in metrology, inspection, lithography, or semiconductor capital-equipment manufacturing.

Background in optical systems, electromechanical systems, or complex assemblies.

Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.

Project-management experience or certification.

Field Service experience and experience supporting global, multisite manufacturing teams.

Location: Singapore

Schedule: Full-time, standard local working hours

Travel: 20-40%, including local supplier visits and regional/global travel
