Job summary

Breeze is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Risk, to lead the evolution of our ML platform for payment risk. You will own model building, training, deployment, and monitoring, partnering with Risk, Software, and Data Engineering.

This senior role reports to the CTO and offers significant ownership in a fast-moving fintech environment. You will design and productionize end-to-end ML workflows, set technical standards, and drive the health of models in production, shaping Breeze's risk

Qualifications

• 8+ years in ML engineering with real production ownership.
• Track record building risk or fraud-adjacent ML systems in payments/fintech.
• Experience with real-time payment-risk systems, including low-latency inference and monitoring.
• Collaborates across engineering and data engineering; senior technical voice.
• Leads with direction, not just execution; adapts in fast-moving environments.
• Builder mentality with bias toward action; embraces AI/automation.
• Detail-oriented and comfortable doing hands-on work at senior level.

Responsibilities

• Design and build ML infrastructure for payment risk detection using Databricks.
• Establish ML environment structure: pipelines, versioning, orchestration, monitoring.
• Productionize models: training, retraining cadence, drift monitoring, deployment.
• Develop reliable, automated ML workflows across the full model lifecycle.
• Set standards for ML design, deployment, and technical direction.
• Maintain healthy production models with low-latency inference and incident response.
• Shape Breeze's risk and ML strategy for the platform.
