Job summary

Rakuten Asia Pte. Ltd. in Singapore seeks a Staff Engineer to define the next generation of our advertising platform. This role combines architectural leadership with hands-on engineering to deliver scalable systems and mentor the next generation of engineers.

You will own end-to-end product development, leveraging a modern stack and AI-augmented workflows to drive high-impact solutions while collaborating across cross-functional teams in a global context.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience with leadership in large projects.
• Deep hands-on expertise in Java (Spring Boot/Batch) and cloud-native architectures.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (MariaDB/MySQL, MongoDB).
• Proven experience with AI-augmented engineering and agentic AI workflows.

Responsibilities

• Technical leadership: translate complex requirements into scalable designs.
• Own the full SDLC from design to deployment across environments.
• Conduct code reviews and enforce security and maintainability.
• Drive AI-augmented development and establish standards for AI-generated code.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices.
