Job summary

Ambiq Micro, Inc. seeks a Staff Applications Software Engineer to support Apollo and Atomiq SoCs. You will work with hardware and software teams to develop software, drivers, and example applications for evaluation hardware and customers.

The role requires strong embedded C, RTOS experience, and the ability to create documentation and guidelines for customers. Collaboration across global teams and lab work are key aspects of this position.

Qualifications

• MS in ECE or CS with 6+ years experience, or BS with 8+ years.
• Experience with embedded MCU development on Cortex-M and RTOS.
• Familiarity with MCU peripherals (SPI, I2C, UART, USB, MIPI).
• Experience with Zephyr is a plus.
• Experience with scripting languages (Python) is desirable.

Scope

As the Staff Applications Software Engineer at Ambiq , you will be responsible for supporting Ambiq’s Apollo and Atomiq families of SoCs.

This role will workwith our hardware and software development teams, field engineering team, and customers todevelopsoftware, includingexample applications forAmbiqand customer evaluation hardware,device drivers, HAL updates, and Zephyr enablement. In addition, the Software Engineer willdebug device level software issues, support field engineering with customer issues, andhelpcreatecustomer-facing documentation such as application notes and software design guidelines.

The successful candidate should have a strong understanding of embedded development on Cortex-M MCUs, bare-metal and real-time operating systems, and be familiar with debugging the same . They must possess strong written and oral communication skills.

The person in this role will be responsible for supporting Ambiq’s field engineering team and customers, coordinating with the global team to make improvements and fix customer issues, and extending Ambiq's offerings with new software examples, application notes, and software design guidelines.

• AssistcustomerswiththeuseoftheAmbiqSDK s andhardwareplatforms.
• Collaboratewithhardwareengineeringinthearchitectureanddesignofhardwareevaluationplatforms,providesoftwarefortestanddebugofhardwareevaluationplatforms.
• Developcustomsoftwarefunctionsandapplicationstofacilitatemicrocontrollerperformanceanalysisandsiliconissuedebug.

Qualifications

• MS in ECE or Computer Science and6+years of experience or BS in ECE/CS with8+years of experience.
• Experience developing embedded MCU code in Crequired.
• Experience with embedded systems in real-time environments.
• Experience with Zephyris a plus.
• Experience with at least one MCU IDE from ARM, Keil, IAR, SEGGER, or other.
• Familiarity with MCU peripherals including SPI, I2C, UART, ADC, USB,I2Sand PDM. MIPI and USB are a plus.
• Experience with Bluetooth and Bluetooth Low Energy.
• Experience with short-range technologies including Zigbee and Thread are a plus.
• Experience working hands-on in the lab.
• Familiarity with source code control systems (git)required.
• Excellent problem-solving skills dealing with complex system level issues related to HW/SW debug.
• Experience in embedded security and cryptographic algorithms is a plus.
• Experience with embedded graphics and display technologies is a plus.
• Experience with scripting languagesrequired,andpythonexperience is specifically desirable.
• Experienceleveragingmodern AI-assisted software development tools (e.g., Cursor, Codex, or similar) is desirable.
