Job summary

DBS Bank Ltd seeks a senior backend engineer to design, develop, and maintain scalable backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

You will build RESTful APIs, deploy on OpenShift/Kubernetes, and implement event-driven processing with Kafka, while ensuring performance and security across databases and services.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance backend applications using Java, Spring Boot, and Microservices architecture.
• Build and expose RESTful APIs and backend services that support digital banking platforms and enterprise applications.
• Develop reusable, testable, and efficient code following engineering best practices and coding standards.
• Design, build, and deploy microservices on OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) and Kubernetes-based environments.
• Implement event-driven and asynchronous processing solutions using Apache Kafka and messaging frameworks.
• Analyze functional and non-functional requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions.
• Design and optimize database schemas, SQL queries, stored procedures, and integration patterns across relational and NoSQL databases.
• Ensure application performance, scalability, reliability, and resilience through proper design, monitoring, and optimization practices.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement preventive measures to enhance system stability.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, API specifications, and deployment guides.
• Collaborate closely with Product Owners, Architects, QA teams, DevOps engineers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions.

Requirements

• Strong expertise in designing and developing Microservices and RESTful APIs.
• Proficient in Core Java, Spring Boot, Spring MVC, Spring Data JPA, and related backend frameworks.
• Experience with event-driven architectures and messaging platforms, particularly Apache Kafka.
• Hands-on experience deploying and managing applications on OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) or Kubernetes.
• Strong knowledge of database technologies, including SQL and NoSQL databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.).
• Experience with API security, OAuth2, JWT, SSL/TLS, and secure application development practices.
• Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Git, Maven, SonarQube, and automated testing frameworks.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Experience

• Banking or financial services domain experience.
• Experience with enterprise integration patterns and API gateways.
• Exposure to monitoring and logging tools such as Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Dynatrace, or Prometheus.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms and modern backend engineering practices.
