Illumina is seeking a Software QA Engineer to develop and maintain automated test suites and leverage AI-assisted testing to accelerate validation. The role collaborates with developers, product owners, and QA teams across a cloud/web/desktop environment, contributing to CI/CD and Agile processes.

The candidate will perform functional, integration, system, regression, and performance testing, ensure test coverage, and help drive quality across Illumina’s genomic software offerings in Singapore

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT, or a related technical discipline.
• Typically 2–5 years of experience in software testing, QA, or software engineering.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test automation solutions.
• Experience testing cloud-based, web, desktop, or distributed software systems.
• Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development or testing tools to improve efficiency and quality.
• Knowledge of SDLC, Agile/Scrum, and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with Jira or equivalent.

Responsabilidades

• Develop, execute, and maintain manual and automated test cases based on product requirements and design specifications.
• Design and implement test automation frameworks and testing tools to improve coverage and efficiency.
• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate test case creation and defect analysis.
• Evaluate and incorporate AI-based testing techniques and tools to improve quality.
• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.
• Identify, document, track, and verify software defects through resolution.
• Collaborate with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure testability.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to CI/CD by integrating automated testing into development pipelines.
• Analyse test results, prepare reports, and communicate quality metrics to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and testing methodologies.
• Support investigation of customer issues and production incidents when required.
• Continuously evaluate and improve testing processes, tools, and frameworks.

Scope of Responsibilities

• Leverage AI-assisted engineering tools to accelerate test case creation, automate repetitive testing activities, improve defect analysis, and increase testing effectiveness.
• Evaluate and incorporate AI-based testing techniques and tools to improve product quality, testing efficiency, and engineering productivity.
• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, performance, and end-to-end testing.
• Identify, document, track, and verify software defects through resolution.
• Collaborate with software developers, product owners, and other stakeholders to clarify requirements and ensure testability.
• Participate actively in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) processes by integrating automated testing into development pipelines.
• Analyse test results, prepare test reports, and communicate quality metrics to project stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with established quality standards, testing methodologies, and engineering best practices.
• Support investigation and validation of customer-reported issues and production incidents when required.
• Continuously evaluate and recommend improvements to testing processes, tools, and frameworks.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline.
• Typically 2–5 years of experience in software testing, quality assurance, or software engineering.
• Experience developing and maintaining automated test frameworks and test automation solutions.
• Experience testing cloud-based, web, desktop, or distributed software systems.
• Familiarity with programming or scripting languages such as C#, Java, Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.
• Experience with testing tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or equivalent.
• Experience leveraging AI-assisted development or testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, AI-powered testing platforms) to improve engineering efficiency and software quality.
• Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC), Agile/Scrum methodologies, and CI/CD practices.
• Familiarity with defect tracking and test management tools such as Jira, or equivalent.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration skills in cross-functional and geographically distributed teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with API testing using Postman, or equivalent tools.
• Experience with CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or Azure DevOps.
• Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Knowledge of performance, security, or load testing methodologies.
• Experience working in regulated environments or software products requiring validation and compliance testing.
