Job summary

Dell Technologies in Singapore is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design and deliver advanced diagnostics and software for platforms and peripherals. You will work on manufacturing tooling and test systems with global partners to meet quality and schedule goals.

The role requires strong Python and C/C++, Shell scripting, plus 5–8 years of software development experience and a solid knowledge of PC technologies.

Qualifications

• Proven knowledge of programming languages (Python and Shell scripting, C/C++)
• Familiarity with a wide array of PC technologies, including basic Intel x86 architecture, Intel ME, RAID, uEFI, firmware and BIOS.
• Ability to code/debug more sophisticated programs using either written or verbal design specifications
• Capacity to learn new tools, languages and operating systems with training and on-the-job experience
• 5-8 years of related experience

Responsibilities

• Design and develop manufacturing diagnostics software for platforms and peripherals using a range of applicable technologies and state-of-the-art software engineering methodologies.
• Deliver products within budget, schedule, and quality guidelines; develop and support applications, databases, diagnostics, scripts, firmware, drivers, and BIOS utilities.
• Develop, test, and integrate code for new or existing software; provide sustaining or maintenance support to existing software.
• Prepare written software/storage specifications for sophisticated products from architectural diagrams and documents.
• Build and review design, functional, technical and/or user documentation as needed.
• Develop, review and implement test strategies for products and systems.
• Communicate project issues and status; analyze and prepare trend reports on quality metrics; participate in process improvements; manage conference calls with global factories.

What you’ll achieve

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will be responsible for developing sophisticated systems and software based the customer’s business goals, needs and general business environment creating software solutions.

Responsibilities

You will:

• Design and develop manufacturing diagnostics software for platforms and peripherals using a range of applicable technologies (e.g. Programming languages, compilers, assemblers and other tools) and state-of-the-art software engineering methodologies. Deliver products within budget, schedule, and quality guidelines. Develop and support applications, databases, diagnostics, scripts, firmware, drivers, and BIOS utilities.
• Develop, test, and integrate code for new or existing software. Provide sustaining or maintenance support to existing software.
• Prepare written software/storage specifications for sophisticated products from architectural diagrams and documents.
• Build and review design, functional, technical and/or user documentation, as needed.
• Develop, review and implement test strategies for products and systems.
• Clearly communicate project issues and status. Analyse and prepare trend reports on quality metrics. Participate in improving product quality through process and procedure improvements. Manage conference calls with global factories.
