Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple ML and content-safety teams across locations. You will guide technical strategy, architecture, and delivery for high-impact products, balancing speed with reliability in a fast-growing environment.

You will mentor engineers, align roadmaps with business goals, manage budgets and cross-team collaboration, and ensure scalable deployment of ML systems while upholding safety and policy standards.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience in software development.
• 5 years of experience with one or more of the following: Machine Learning (ML) infrastructure, or specialization in a related ML field.
• 5 years of experience in leading ML design and optimizing ML infrastructure (e.g., model deployment, model evaluation, data processing, debugging, fine tuning).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• 2 years of experience in a people management or team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience in content safety applied to software products.
• Experience in Responsible AI or safety-adjacent fields, such as factuality, or product policy.
• Experience with scaling pipelines, deploying systems, and designing defensive architecture to meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs).
• Knowledge of machine learning and Large Language Models (LLMs), and concepts of transformers, activations, and how to train and deploy them.

The team combines subject matter expertise in the content safety domain and a practice of machine learning and AI-based techniques with the production-grade experience in serving infrastructure and product integrations to protect users from harm, maintain the company’s engagement in the area of online safety across the industry, and make foundational models and the internet safer for society.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind the company’s flagship products. • Develop the technical goals and roadmap within the scope of the teams. Evolve the roadmap to meet future requirements and infrastructure needs.
• Design, build, maintain and scale content safety solutions to safeguard business-critical products for the company.
