Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is building next-generation software at massive scale, focusing on safety and responsible AI. We seek engineers who can contribute to large-scale ML systems, from data processing to deployment, with emphasis on safety and reliability across products.

The Content Safety Core team protects users from harmful content while accelerating product launches, shaping architecture and standards for enterprise-grade safety across services.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
• 3 years of experience in testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
• 3 years of experience with ML infrastructure (model deployment, evaluation, data processing, debugging).
• 3 years of experience with ML-related areas such as speech/audio, RL, or AI infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain and scale content safety platforms for core products.
• Deliver self-service safety solutions that combine content protection with production-grade infra.
• Enable safety teams to protect users from harmful content and unlock business opportunities.
• Collaborate through design and code reviews to ensure best practices and efficiency.
• Identify opportunities to launch improvements with the developer community.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience in Responsible AI or safety-adjacent fields, such as factuality, or product policy.
• Experience in content safety applied to software products.
• Experience in scaling pipelines, deploying systems, and designing defensive architecture to meet Service Level Objectives (SLOs).

The team unblock and accelerate the company's product launches by providing quality implementations of company-wide standards for Responsible AI. The team combines subject matter expertise in the content safety domain and a practice of machine learning and AI-based techniques with the production-grade experience in serving infrastructure and product integrations to protect users from harm, maintain the company’s engagement in the area of online safety across the industry, and make foundational models and the internet safer for society.

The Core team builds the technical foundation behind the company’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at the company. Responsibilities

• Design, build, maintain and scale content safety platforms to safeguard business-critical products for the company.
• Deliver quality and future-proof content safety self-service solutions that combine content safety protection with production-grade infrastructure.
• Enable safety teams to protect users from exposures to offensive, sensitive or harmful content, and unlock new opportunities for the business.
• Collaborate with peers and stakeholders through design and code reviews to ensure best practices among available technologies (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
• Identify opportunities to mitigate internal signal developer issues, working with the community to prioritize and launch improvements.
