Stripe in Singapore is seeking a software engineer to design, build, test, and ship high-quality code that powers payments and financial infrastructure. You’ll work with engineers across Stripe to deliver reliable APIs and services and to solve complex problems that impact users and partners.

About The Team

Payments is Stripe's flagship product. Our payments platform processes trillions of dollars annually. This team has the opportunity to expand the reach of Stripe's global payments network, design and implement novel payment capabilities, and deliver best-in-class reliability and performance.

We have software engineers in almost every team across Stripe, and in this role, you'll be making some of the most significant decisions for the company. You'll get to work with other engineers to build features that span various parts of the system, as well as our business, sales, and operations teams to understand and solve our users' pain points.

What you'll do

You'll work on projects that span technologies, systems, and processes where you'll design, build, test, and ship great code every day.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain APIs, services, and systems across Stripe's engineering teams
• Work with a wide range of systems, processes, and technologies to own and solve problems end-to-end
• Collaborate with other engineering teams across Stripe's global offices
• Uphold our high engineering standards and bring consistency to the many codebases and processes you encounter
• Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes

Minimum Requirements

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Either a Bachelor's degree in a technical field involving coding (e.g., Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience
• Experience working on projects that involved multiple engineering teams
• Empathy, strong communication skills, and a deep respect for the power of collaboration
• The ability to drive clear next steps when encountering ambiguous spaces without clear lines of ownership
• High standards for code quality and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets
• User-facing or cross-functional roles where you shaped the product roadmap and solved user needs

In-office expectations

Office-assigned Stripes in most of our locations are currently expected to spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This expectation may vary depending on role, team and location. For example, Stripes in Stripe Delivery Center roles in Mexico City, Mexico, Bengaluru, India, and Dublin, Ireland work 100% from the office. Also, some teams have greater in-office attendance requirements, to appropriately support our users and workflows, which the hiring manager will discuss. This approach helps strike a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility when possible.

Pay and benefits

The annual salary range for this role in the primary location is SGD 122,400 - SGD 270,000. This range may change if you are hired in another location. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and specific location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the primary location may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.

Specific benefits and details about what compensation is included in the salary range listed above will vary depending on the applicant’s location and can be discussed in more detail during the interview process. Benefits/additional compensation for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; retirement plans; health benefits; and wellness stipends.
