Job summary

ScienTec Consulting Pte Ltd is seeking a Software Engineer to build and enhance cloud-native applications and data gateway services on AWS. You will develop secure APIs with Java, Spring Boot, and RESTful interfaces, and support data exchange through APIs, SFTP and message queues.

The role requires 4–7 years of software engineering experience, strong AWS and backend Java skills, React/Next.js, Terraform, and a solid grasp of CI/CD and DevSecOps.

Qualifications

• 4–7 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on AWS cloud-native development.
• Backend development with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with React/Next.js and JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, API Gateway, system integration and data transformation.
• Experience with SFTP and message queues (AWS MQ/ActiveMQ/RabbitMQ/SQS).
• Experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL/AWS Aurora/Oracle.
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, DevSecOps and automated testing.

• Collaborate with product teams, external agencies and vendors to deliver integrations end-to-end.
• Leverage AI development tools and agentic coding workflows to improve engineering productivity.
• Ensure solutions comply with government ICT security requirements and engineering best practices.

What We're Looking For

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline with minimum 4-7 years of software engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud-native development.
• Strong backend development experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience with React / Next.js and JavaScript.
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, API Gateway, system integration and data transformation.
• Experience with SFTP and message queues such as AWS MQ, ActiveMQ, RabbitMQ or Amazon SQS.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, AWS Aurora, Oracle or other relational databases.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform would be greatly advantageous
• Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD, DevSecOps and automated testing.
• Good understanding of software architecture, system design and production support.
