Job summary

Capgemini Singapore is seeking an experienced Backend Java Developer to design, implement, and evolve enterprise-grade microservices using Java (JDK 17+), Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.

You will build robust RESTful APIs, leverage Kafka for event-driven architectures, and apply best practices in security, performance, and scalability within an agile environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• 3–7 years hands-on backend development experience in Java.
• Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 17+), Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
• Experience with Kafka or similar messaging systems.
• Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and performance tuning.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines.
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop Java services integrated in end-to-end processing.
• Design and code robust, secure APIs to persist/retrieve data and implement business logic.
• Lead and participate in code reviews and share knowledge within the team.
• Provide technical leadership and influence architectural decisions.
• Work with cross-functional teams including product, QA and infra.
• Ensure compliance with security and audit requirements for financial systems.
• Implement microservices architecture using Spring ecosystem and Kafka for event-driven patterns.
• Ensure code quality using SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Enable performance optimization and secure coding practices.

Responsibilities

• Work with subject matter experts to develop solutions that meet business requirements.
• Develop java services integrated in the end to end processing.
• Design and code a significant amount of a robust, secure and efficient API to persist / retrieve data and implement the business logic.
• Responsible for all aspects of software development and production support (L3).
• Participation in code reviews and sharing of knowledge with other members of the team.

• Ensure compliance with regulatory, security, and audit requirements (especially relevant for financial systems).
• Develop and maintain enterprise-grade applications using Java (JDK 17+) and related frameworks.
• Design and implement microservices architecture using Spring ecosystem.
• Work with messaging systems such as Kafka for event-driven architectures.
• Implement multi-threading, concurrency handling, and performance optimization in Java applications.
• Ensure code quality using design patterns, SOLID principles, and clean coding practices.
• Implement security best practices including OAuth2, JWT, encryption, and secure coding standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• 3 - 7 years of hands-on experience in backend development using Java.
• Strong proficiency in Java (JDK 17+), Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud.
• Solid understanding of microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
• Experience working with Kafka or similar messaging/event-streaming platforms.
• Strong knowledge of multithreading, concurrency, and performance tuning.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of software design principles, including SOLID and design patterns.
• Experience implementing application security standards (OAuth2, JWT, encryption).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, agile environment.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
